There is a way to warm up the temperature in all of the season modes (Season, Franchise, GM Career) that just screams bad coding. It's very simple: All you have to do when you start up the game is go into the Play Ball screen, select any two teams, and and access the stadium screen. That's it. You don't even have to change weather if it's set to cold. (take note of this) Alternatively, you can let the game go to its demo, which will have the same effect.
From there, back out of playball mode and either load up or start a new season mode, and play the game as normal. If you see what I've been seeing (through about 10 games of testing this), the players will likely be wearing short sleeves if it's a day game. I've noticed that for night games, some players will wear long sleeves regardless of the temp. But the way you can verify the temp is to check the box score after the game. Press Circle (PS2) on the first boxscore screen and you'll see a list of the umpires, wind, and weather.
Now, why does this happen? I suspect there's some internal switch that doesn't get flipped when you go straight into a season mode that locks the game into cold weather all the time. The fact that going into the stadium screen and not doing anything there apparently resets this switch is very intriguing. Also, changing the weather settings doesn't seem to have an effect: For example, if you choose rainy in playball mode, it won't rain in season (I haven't seen rain yet, or any other kind of varying weather, always 60 and no wind).
Oh, and you have to do this every time you power on the console. It's very quick though, doesn't take more than 2 or 3 seconds to do.
I would encourage anyone who tries this to PLEASE report if they get different weather than 60 degrees in games, and especially if it happens during the same season. Right now I'm only calling this a visual fix, but it could very well do more than that, and I just haven't seen it yet. I need more eyes to test it. But even if this is all it does, I'd MUCH rather the temperature be 60 degrees all season than zero.
