                Boiling a disc does 2 things:

                1) it removes any impurities off the surface that may be misse with a cloth while wiping it down
                2) it removes any instability or "warps" in the physical disc itself.

                It does work, Ive done it many times, but do it ONLY FOR 15 seconds.
                Secondly, newer games are released on DVD media which is thicker than the original CD media that the first gen Xbox titles were released on.. so you should not have to do it as much.
