The best system, by far, is classic/effort w/o a cursor. Turn the pitch variability sliders up a bit and you have the most natural pitch mode in any baseball game. Think about it, pitchers don't pitch with meters, they pick their spot and throw it there, with varying effort, which is what you do in this mode. You don't really know if you hit your spot or not, but you know if it feels good or not coming off your hand. It's beautiful for 2-player mode cuz you don't have to worry about hiding your pitches. It's also the most realistic mode because depending on the pitcher, you may or may not have the touch on any given day - since you don't see where you're aiming, you just feel it (like real pitching). If you're a bit off, you'll get hit, and then you try to be perfect and end up getting wild. I don't see any advantages the other modes have over this mode. Sometimes it feels easy, sometimes it feels impossible. It's pitching. If you liked College Hoops 2K5's FT system, then try classic pitching w/no visible cursor.

Pitching modes
So what's the best pitching mode? I like how the K-zone looks, but find it a little too much. Same with meter - I never liked meters in sports games, not for kicking in football, not for FT in basketball and not for pitching in baseball. K-zone is pretty much the same.

Re: Pitching modes
i really hope game developers realize meters aren't the way to go, doesn't matter how you make them you can always get the timing down if you play long enough, classic, highheat, call it what you will its the only pitching method for me

Re: Pitching modes
I agree. FYI: Classic pitching with the Effort meter on allows for controlled variation the speed of the pitch, whereas Classic without the effort meter doesn't. A low Effort pitch will travel, say, 88-91 MPH on average while a high Effort pitch will go 91-94. Using Classic pitching without the Effort meter will result in all pitches varying between 90-94. And you don't get the low-end pitch speeds without the Effort meter on.Originally posted by acarreroThe best system, by far, is classic/effort w/o a cursor. Re: Pitching modes
I want this to work for me but I always seem to hit my spots. What do you guys have the pitching variability meter set at? I have tried it at 100 and 0 and I saw no variation. Is the Variability slider a reverse slider? The description says "move this slider to the right to give your pitchers pinpoint control." That says to me that the higher the number, the more likely a pitcher will be able to hit their spot. Yet, I'm seeing that alot of people have this setting somewhere in the neighborhood of 85-100.Originally posted by baa7I agree.
