Using Effort pitching in this year's game: by very quickly tapping the button that corresponds with the pitch you wish to throw you can sometimes bring up and freeze the the Effort meter. The P will be standing in the set postion, but the meter won't fill until you hit the button a second time. I don't imagine you're able to attempt a pickoff mid-pitch like that however, although I haven't tried it.

      Re: Hollding Runners

I wrote a nice objective letter to Kush about the game. One thing I addressed was the "new" baserunning scheme. That even after hours of practice it is still confusing, especially with two or three runners on. I suggested that they do go back to a one button/dpad type of scheme.

with the exception of the new graphics i actually prefer 2k4 to this yrs game, running was easier as it was more what were used to, hitting was alot harder, seems this yrs true aim is closer to timing, the curser hitting this yr to me anyways is close to impossible, doesn't seem to be any in between things in this game, to hard or to easy.

sask -- I didn't start really enjoying the game until I lowered Batter Contact to 30 using True Aim. I found it way too easy otherwise -- like you said, closer to timed swinging, which never appealed to me. With Contact that low, it becomes necessary to go after the pitch – difficult, but still possible to come up with a few hits every game. And you start seeing that True Aim is a lot more than just timing. I’m actually getting pretty good at taking the ball opposite field or hitting fly balls when I need to. FYI: My Pitch Speed is @ 40.

i'll give that a try, i did for a while but was just hitting squibbers so maybe thats where aiming comes in when you have contact lowered.

Try lowering AI Corner and AI Location as well. It seems to help with the bloop dribblers -- strikes end up more in the middle of the plate, making it easier to make good contact.
