defensive adjustments, do you use them?

one of the best features of the mlb series is defensive adjustments. you can check into where an opposing batter sprays the ball. no other game really has this.

with 2k5 it gives us the option to move our infield / outfield / left / right / short / deep, etc.

    do you use the adjustments?
how do you guys use it? (ex. situations)
    which ones?
do you ever shift left or right?

i move them deep or short, double play depth but nothing else. i notice the AI sometimes does shifts. because on some corner shots they are too far over to be in NORMAL depth.

i really want to see this implemented in 2k5 next year.

That and situational tendencies are lacking for sure. I don’t shift the IF and OF nearly as much as I would if I knew what to expect from the batter hit-wise. And there really should be – at the very least and along with hit charts – a player’s RI Scoring Position batting rating.

Something I noticed which others may or may not agree with: I find the CPU happens to place an awful lot of line drive-type hits in the exact place my guys aren’t :-) Seriously, if a righty’s up and I shift the OF left, the batter will time and time again hit a seeing-eye double in the gap between my LF and CF. So now in a situation like that, I sometimes shift my OF right instead, then I pitch to the outside of the plate. If the ball’s hit, it very often tends to fly right at my LF who, as I said, is shifted toward center field, standing in what would have been the gap, had I shifted my OF left.

It’s a weird thing. I sometimes think there are pre-programmed “hit tracks” where the ball goes, no matter what.

I just wish you could pick one setting and keep it all game. For instance, I like to play 95% of my infielders at deep. If it were up to me I'd play deep all game but since I'd have to adjust for every batter I just play deep for the power hitters.

I don't use left and right a lot only sometimes if I know I'm going to pitch a batter a certain way and I'm hoping he hits it a certain way.
