    Known glitches and some help...

    Hey all.

I have both MVP and MLB 2006 this year. I really enjoy the career mode in MLB, and haven't touched MVP in weeks. It's a good game and all, but it just didn't hold my interest as long. (Although the pitching and hitting mini-games are pretty entertaining.)

Anyways, I've been thinking about maybe picking up 2k5, but I've been reading about the glitches that came with this game since day one. It put me off initially, but I'd like to give it a try.

What are the major glitches, and which ones have been "fixed" either via sliders or other tricks? Are there any really painful ones?

And for those that have tried (or own) both MVP and 2k5, which one do you prefer to play?

    Cheers for the help!
"I was telling George Kottaras behind the plate, 'How do you even catch Wakefield's knuckle?'" Oakland shortstop Orlando Cabrera said. "He was like, 'I just close my eyes.' And I said, 'OK, I'm going to try that one, I'm going to close my eyes and swing.' And nothing."

Out of the box and general roster editing things:

The infamous passed ball glitch is completely fixed by setting CPU Errors to 50.

Moving players from team to team can mess up lineups. I’m sure there are several ways of preventing this, nevertheless this is what I do… and I’ve had no problems: demote the players in question first – remove them from their team’s lineup, and change them from MLB players to AAA players – then trade / move them their new teams.

The P’s are super-fielders to the point of completely unrealistic and annoying. The only fix is lower their individual fielding ratings. The most important is Anticipation, which has to be lowered to below 10. All others (except Arm ratings) should be dropped to below 20.

And the right sliders are very important as usual.

There are a number of problems with Franchise / GM mode, and maybe someone else will list those. Great game, though ;-)

ESPN2K games are my choice for Hockey, Basketball and Football, walk straight past the baseball this year...too many things to list are wrong with this game to the point it to me, is close to being unplayable.

Runners thrown out on singles to RF, Uber-fielding pitchers are my main gripes, but as Im sure you have seen this forum's many posts about the games problems.

I have both games and prefer MVP this year. I've fooled with the sliders and have it at a level where I have varied results in the game(MVP).So I'm happy playing that game most of the time.To me 2k5 has a charm that I can't fully describe that I like about it so I've kept it. I play it once in awhile for a change of pace. Never really messed with the franchise mode cause of the stat bugs I've read on here. It cant hurt you to give it a rental to see if you like it for yourself.Everybody's taste is different here, some deal with the glitches and play some don't. To each his own.

Yes.. Thats lame.. Although I remember seeing Andre dawson throw out a runner on a single to Right before.. VERY rare though.. The infielders range are super human at times too..

Lower the AI Throwing Aggression slider to 10 to stop the RF throws to 1st. Anyone with speed ratings in the 20’s and 30’s needs it increased by 20 points. Lower all pitchers’ fielding ratings by 95%. Lower all position players’ fielding ratings by up to 75%.

            Simple as that… ;-)

(That was a joke, but it’s all true. The game plays great with the right settings and edits.)
