CPU Confidence leads to no cpu offence ?

I'm in my second season and almost every cpu player has zero confidence (except pitchers) This seems to of led to no offence from the cpu with their scoring 0,1,1,2 runs in the last 4 games. I have ai skill at 70, contact at 95 and power at 50. I'm not scoring runs either so i'm not winning all games but its getting so that I almost want the cpu to get hits just to prove they can. Anyone got any ideas ? My pitchers are almost always maximum confidence as are most of the cpu pitchers. I just want to get a few games where the cpu puts up a few runs.

Today I took all the P’s on my team only, and dropped their individual pitching ratings by 70%, including: AVGR, AVGL, 2BvR, 2BvL, HRvR, HRvL, BB and SO. Plus I'm testing knocking 70% Control off each of their pitches. That’s my solution. I figure even if they end up with full Confidence -- and I agree it’s a problem -- their lower ratings are going to prevent them from dominating.

The problem is changing the player ratings isn't going to help people in the middle of a season. We need to try to find a solution via sliders as people aren't going to be able to change all the ratings plus rookies coming into the game will have the original ratings anyway.

Well, there’s no fix the confidence problem using sliders, for sure. If people think they’re going to be able to play this game without player edits… well, good luck I suppose. This game is awful -- unplayable really -- without them, IMO.

The thing i am noticing is confidence makes for some serious variation. i played shilling w/high confidence and could not get a hit. but had five walks off randy johnson when he had zero.

It’s an interesting idea – it’s just way over-programmed. An early mound visit bites off one-sixth of the P’s confidence?! And some guy lead off against my team today, and grounded or struck out (can’t remember which). Then I check his confidence: all the way down to maybe 15% left, after the first play of the game! That’s not loss of confidence – that’s wussy-boy.

i agree. it is way over-programmed. too many guys START the game with zero. for a while when i was learning how to read pitches, i helped them get it back by the 4th inning.

There's no global editor available yet though so editing players is going to be a huge task for season play. What edits are you using ?

Confidence was the same problem last year. But last year you could turn it off. The game was sooooooooo much better after that.

Confidence just has too strong of an effect in this game.

I'm going to try the edits suggested but I need to get an injury in my season so that I can edit the players. I'm also going to switch off the hot/cold zones to see if that leads to more scoring by the ai. I may try just the zones first though

If you do the injury thing, move the slider up to 100. You'll get an injury right away. Then just move it down again. And if you stick your scrubs in for that one or two games, it'll be some bum who's out, not a starter ;-)

Actually, just one game if you sim the game, and keep reloading the save until you get an injury.
