Is there really more hit variation using Classic Swing?
Seems like everyone is using the Classic Swing method. I've started a franchise with the hit stick, but it seems like everyone on here is using the Classic Swing. Is there a difference in the gameplay between the two settings besides the obvious approach to hitting? Is there more hit variety? Is it harder or easier to hit? How does the classic swing work? Anyone try both methods?Tags: None -
Re: Is there really more hit variation using Classic Swing?
My personal take....
There are a few too many flyballs using the swing stick, though I do get my fair share of hit variety. I tried classic swing for a while but got bored with it very quickly, so I will stick with the SS.
I think I'm going to try and make my sliders so that you don't use power (pushing the stick forward) to try and emulate the old one-button cursor swinging of 2k3-4."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: Is there really more hit variation using Classic Swing?
I am currently using the swing stick...there was a small learning curve, but I really like it! I tried the classic swing and the was a delay when I pressed the button.Winning isn't everything....IT'S THE ONLY THING!!Comment

Re: Is there really more hit variation using Classic Swing?
I felt the same way. I thought I'd do better with classic swing, but I wound up doing much, much worse. I'm loving the swing stick now--it feels like I'm doing more for hits.Comment

Re: Is there really more hit variation using Classic Swing?
I hate the fact that I sometimes attempt a bunt when following through with swing stick. I'm using classic right now, but maybe hitting too many homeruns. I want to switch to the stick, but it just isn't as intuitive as I would like.Comment

Re: Is there really more hit variation using Classic Swing?
i've mostly used the classic method but have been trying swing stick and it is more fun i think, i need lots of practice though, i also think there are more foul balls using it at least from my time trying it, also anyone know if its possible to influence hit direction using the L stick like you do with classic hitting, thanks.Comment

Swing the stick towards where you want to hit it instead of releasing it completely. For instance, if you have a righty up in the box, to hit to left field, when you hold the stick back, swing it towards left to influence the hit.http://neverfollow.biz (Independent Music Group)Comment

Re: Is there really more hit variation using Classic Swing?
ok, i think i've kind of being able to do that a bit now, can you tell me how soon you pull back on the stick, before the pitcher releases the ball or just as he is doing so and is it like classic hitting where you want to go with the pitch, like its best not to try and pull an outside pitch thing?Comment

I've heard just the opposite. Well, at least the HR's. Can't say I've experienced it though, as I can't make contact hardly at all using the swing stick.Comment

I pull back on the stick right before he releases it. I really dont know the proper way myself. I found that waiting till he releases it is to quick for me. My hits, HRs and such haven't been drastically effected. Also, there is a slider that works in connection with the step timing. If you lower it, I believe you can hold back on the stick whenever you feel like it as the step wont have much influence on your hit. If you raise it, then you need to be on point with your step timing. Finnally, you can always check your VIP to see if you're step timing is perfect, early, late, etc.
For you second question, I haven't practiced enough on pulling pitches but based on my own speculation, if you try to pull an outside pitch, more than likely, you swing and miss. If you try to slap a ball to opposite field on an inside pitch, you're probably gonna jam yourself but I haven't played enough to tell you if these are true.http://neverfollow.biz (Independent Music Group)Comment

Re: Is there really more hit variation using Classic Swing?
I like the swing stick but would i get variation if i just pulled back and released ? I don't want to do the circle movement to pull and hit the other way. I want the direction of my shots to be based on my timing, just back and release. I also want to get sliders that allow home runs without pushing up on the stick, just not too many.Comment

Yes, you can just release the stick and the variation is still there. The swing influence with the half circle is something that takes a great deal of practice so its not like you'll be able to influence every hit. Plus it also take the ball location into consideration. If you try to slap one to right field but the ball was way inside, you'll more than likely hit a weak grounder to 3rd or short because you did'nt get enough wood on the ball. Timing has alot to do with the hits with the swing stick whether or not you influence the swing in a direction.http://neverfollow.biz (Independent Music Group)Comment
