You want REALISTIC baseball? Glenn and Pauls sliders.

*****March 11th..........UPDATE....At the VERY least, this is a great starting point for realistic play

When we say “realistic” we are talking pure baseball fans that want their videogame to play as close as possible to MLB.
In these sliders for CLASSIC SWING we are trying for simulation, pure and simple.
Like the old adage “there’s no crying in baseball” we believe there are “no turbo boost- button- mashing in baseball.” Your players and the computer will run as fast as they can without blistering up your finger.
The average major league at bat is about 6 to 7 pitches. We try to capture that in our sliders. The average videogame player is 35 years old and Paul and I are right there.
We began playing baseball games with the old board game Strat-O-matic. We have researched from the day it came out and tweaked this game from the early morning until late into the night.

Although there is some tweaking still to do, we are VERY CLOSE and wanted to share these NOW with our fellow baseball maniacs. Any updates will be done on this FIRST page of the thread.
We would like to send out a big THANK YOU to everyone on this board who contributed their versions of sliders. When we first picked up the game we were lost. BIG TIME. Thank you JT and everyone!!!
We loved MLB right out of the box but knew the sliders had to be fixed to play a true game of baseball. Please let us know how they are working for you. Any suggestions you have will be checked and tested every day until we achieve PERFECTION!
REMEMBER….these are for TRUE SIM only. It’s not for you arcade fans who are disappointed because it took you a whole 2 weeks to throw a no hitter with Oliver Perez. Or that you have the KC Royals and wonder why you can’t hit.
This is the best baseball game we have EVER played (and we have played all of them) and REALISM is what we are striving for.

And one more thing...turn off the vibration! It's too easy to locate your pitches!

The average major league at bat is 6 to 7 pitches.

That is actually a misconception. The average number of pitches per PA last year in the MLB was 3.77. If the average was 6-7 a pitcher throwing a complete game would come close to 200 pitches!! I know what you mean though. There are 6-7 pitch at bats and then there are 1 and 2 pitch at bats that lead to that 3.77 average. Not a bunch of 3.77 pitch at bats.

You are right on. Thanks for correcting that. With these sliders (so far) we have had a GIGANTIC variety of at bats. The pitch count is almost always right on for the AI and player pitchers......still some slight tweaking to do.

Another set of sliders to try. Gotta love it. I'll be trying these after my current game of which i'm about to finish.

Could you please post what your other settings are please? etc... classic or swing stick, zone or the other pitching method...and also does anyone else have this for ps2 and if these sliders work well with that system as well? And I am with you with the realism.. I am 34 and have done some testing too.. I hope these work well to get the walks right...I never have enough walks. hardly ever give a walk.

quick questions, do you use the left stick at all when using the classic swing?? Because I'm just wondering with Power at 0 if you are hitting any home runs but not pushing up with the stick, since I just like to use the timing and just hit A. Also with CPU contact at 15 I just played 4 innings of Mets vs Cards and I was pitching with Pedro and I had a not hitter going after 4 and the only time they even made contact with the ball was a little 2 hopper to Delgado at first. The never touch the ball besides that. I know its only 4 innings but that just kind of stood out to me. Thanks

All I want to know is 2 things:

                      1. How many K's are you tossing vs. cpu a game? How many are guys like Schilling/Peavy/Lirano/Santana/Clemmens etc.. getting in 7/9 innings of work?
                      2. How many HR's are you and cpu hitting on avg per game? And are the distances varied-340-500'?

                      Thanks.

I just played a game using your sliders Florida(me) vs Houston. I shut them out and they only got 2 hits but one was actually a fielding blunder by me so really it was only one. I would have to agree with someone who posted earlier, they hardly made any contact. I struck out 15 guys using Olsen and my closer. I upped the AI contact to 25 and I will try another game. My hitting stats were good though i got 4 runs on 8 hits, 2 HRS but realistic home runs. One i guessed the location right and the other came on a meatball pitch. These sliders are a good base for me to start with thanks.

i am the other half of this slider party, and If you are really hitting your spots( payoff pitches etc..) you can slide the ai contact up a bit. glenn pitches pretty well and his hits and k's are right there. I on the other hand seem to get between 6-9 k's per staff each game with the contact where its at. For example stat line for Oliver perez in sf last gm i played, 6ip 7 hits 3 walks 8 k and 4runs. The reason its that low is over the course of five or six games i got a nice variety of stat lines. From a blowout to a nail biter. As we all know these sliders will be dancing all season long, as we play this game to death!!LOL
