FINDING A HAPPY MEDIUM FOR CPU HITTING

So far my experience with playing against the CPU has meant a lot of wins for me. My current user record is at 13-4, and I have all my hitting categories for user at 0 with contact being the only not @ 0 (it is @ 20).

Pitch speed is 100 and AI pitcher difficulty is 100 too. Playing with the Phillies I am going to get a lot of hits, and hit a lot of homers too. I'm not really complaining about the abundance of my offense, but the lack of the CPU's.

I currently have a slightly modified version of the JT sliders which I have found to play better than the other ones here. The Big Joe sliders are the only ones I have not yet used.

I find myself striking out about 7 guys a game with the two guys I pitch with (Myers and Hamels). I give up about 7 hits a game, and the only team I got rocked by was the Reds.

I have found that when the contact is any higher than 35 the CPU pretty much connects on anything, and it is super duper hard to ge a swing and miss. With the contact at 35 they make decent contact but I don't get very many hits against me. The AI power is at 50, AI skill is 75, Effectiveness MOD is 100, and pitcher difficulty is 5.

What sliders have you all used where the CPU makes good contact and get's hits, but also strikes out at a reasonable rate too?

If your using payoff pitching your always going to dominate. Its too easy to pinpoint pitches. Switch to Zone with the interface at atleast 85. Youll be begging for mercy.

Excellent point...I use Zone 2 with 100 interface...

JBH3 take a look at my final version of slider settings. I made some adjustments..

OK, but will there ever be the oppurtunity for my pitches to get better when I am hitting my spots? Will my fastball's overall rating increase/decrease when thrown at the spot desired?

Because if I have to turn that aspect off I would rather adjust the sliders.

I think the payoff pitching adds some realism to the pitching.

Payoff pitches happen in zone pitching too... if you hit your spot during a payoff pitch scenario, you get a rating boost.

I think its just an overall better system of pitching. I will eventually go to Zone rather than Zone 2 because it is a tad more difficult

I know you are trying to adjust the computer hitting but might want to cut down on your own offense as well.
I have been testing today and found that adjusting the step influence up can affect your hits. I also put contact down to 15 and adjusted batter influence to the right. The batter influence seems to make it tougher to hit with worse players, about the same for good players.. so far that has been the case for me. maybe i'm imagining it but it's what I am trying.

Yes, you'll get still increases in your pitch stats when you hit your spots on the payoff pitches. I'm finding zone to be a much better alternative myself. I'm walking batters which is a nice change.

Re: FINDING A HAPPY MEDIUM FOR CPU HITTING

Zone pitching was the answer for this problem for me. Much more difficult to spot my pitches. I actually tossed up a couple of meatball pitches, and it's also possible to miss location with in the strike zone. Zone pitching really opened this game up for me.

Pitching meter difficulty or whatever it's called should be at least at 85 for zone pitching imo.

and just wait till the 8th or 9th innings roll around and the meter speed all of a sudden starts increasing to probably around 150, lol.

Ok... So I'll switch to zone pitching and give it a try. Now where do you all have the step influence at? I have it at 0 because I thought it would be harder to hit the ball with it at 0. Is that correct?

I believe step influence means that the proper timing of the batter's step influences contact/power of the hitter. That said, I believe that a higher influence (moving it to the right) would mean you would hafta have your timing down well for hitting.

Am experimenting with these right now.. I have my contact, power, batter influence and power swing at 0 with step influence at 100.. all other sliders are pretty much JT30s.. Will let ya know how things go.. I have been experimenting today cause my offense has been outta control good

Lowering the step influence makes it easier if I recall.
