    Sliders vs player ratings

It has been my experience with almost every sports game I have owned that the gameplay could never be made ultra-real through the use of sliders...no matter how many.

I have always found the only way to get what you are looking for on the field is to edit player ratings. Now, what fields should be edited for this game is the question, but from most of the complaints I am seeing on the board, it appears hitting needs to be toned down, and pitching needs to be a bit more variable. Figuring out what ratings should be altered is probably the key for this game.

That being said, once you do, you sort of screw up franchise mode in any game because the incoming rookies will often be rated higher in many categories that current players, so you have to go through the editing process again. Most folks don't want to do that.

But for those looking for one season, this may be the best bet. I've done it on Madden, NFL2K5, MVP, High Heat, NBA games, etc. In my opinion, it is the only way to realism...but a huge PIA.

I agree completely!!! In fact, I've been messing around with individual player throwing strength. Even with the sliders all jacked down, they still throw too fast across the whole field (all positions). I took 2 teams and lowered all the player ratings for throwing strength and have played 5 or 6 games with these two teams against each other. I really like what I'm seeing in this facet of the gameplay, however, I feel that I may need to bump up the outfielder throwing strength. A 50% reduction is a bit much as alot of outfield throws are dying (hitting the ground) much sooner than they should be, atleast compared to real life. Somewhere between the default 2K ratings and my 50% reduction will work out damn near perfect

Player ratings are the way to go but like you said it's a major PIA !!!

I agree with u totally. I came to realize this about 2 days ago when someone posted that he will edit the players , but loved my slider settings. I have to say this the sliders did work out really good on everything but hitting, and its only the power house teams when the game becomes so HR friendly or power hitters, so finding the rate rating for a power hitter is what needs to be done, but like u said you will whind up doing more editing than that and it is a PIA. Good Post homie.

Serious question. Does anyone know what kind of formula the developer uses to get player ratings?
