Why would I want to increase corner slider?

    What am I missing here?

The CPU pitches to the corners with the slider on zero enough as is, why make it more difficult to judge balls and strikes. Hitting HR's maybe easy but hitting in general is not.

You can't foul tip pitches to stay alive with 2 strikes as is, why have more strikeouts buy missing corner pitches?

...or does the corner slider mean the cpu will throw more balls off the corners?

.... or more strikes which I layoff anyway...because, I look for pitches over the plate not on the corners.

Anyway, I have it on zero and find the strikeouts too extreme.

That's why I like nng07's sliders. You make a good point and he also makes a good point that those slider sets that crank up the corner slider high also make it too easy to guess pitch location with the batter's eye. If you have it set high, you can just keep putting your batter's eye in one of the corners and you know it's going to be there.

It's also not realistic. While pitchers like to hit the corners, there are a decent amount of strikes thrown that aren't on the corners in real life.

I think the sliders dont matter when it comes to corner pitching, I've changed slider sets for different reasons but from 0 up the computer ALWAYS hits the corner. I didnt start realizing it until recently but even at 0 they still go for the corners.

I have the corner setting real low and also set the AI throw strike overall to 20 or 25. This makes the cpu miss off the plate by a larger margin than just a hair. They will still hit the corners, especially the good pitchers.

Thanks for the input, I will try this as well. Its amazing that these sliders are on a 100 sliding scale but I seem to be moving closer to ZERO on most of them!

It seemed to me when I dropped below 25 that it left too many over the heart of the plate and I was just killing the ball. At over 25 the at bats became too predictable overall. That may just be me but that is where thinking is on it.

It seems like that is all the cpu does but when I think of it. That is EXACTLY what I do to them.

The AI Corner slider isn't working this year. In 2K5, if you set it at 0, very few balls would ever come close to the corner of the strikezone. This year, there's no difference between 0 and 100. The issue I believe has to do with their removing the AI Location slider from the game this year, which used to work in conjuction with the AI Corner slider. And in the proces they screwed up the programming apparently.

I agree: this game is terrible as far as judging balls from strikes. Some sort of graphics/animation issue. Hope they clean that up for next year.

I think you're right about the AI corner slider not having any effect no matter where its placed. But the other one that seems to be non-functional is the Pitcher Difficulty slider. I seem to get the same results whether I have it at 0 or 100.

Hehe, the only sliders that make a huge difference for me is the contact slider. If it's down, I cant hit.

Yeah? I haven’t checked that out myself because I have it at 0. I prefer to have the CPU pitcher ratings dictate the effectiveness of the pitcher, not what I consider is basically a CPU cheat slider for certain pitchers (and which ones??)

What I did though is I bumped the AI Effectiveness Mod slider up to 100. That slider works, and if I’m not pitching effectively, the CPU tees off on me.

A lot of the sliders do seem to work quite well - but there are some that apparently have little or no effect on gameplay, and the AI corner slider is definitely one.
