Is it time for a whole different approach?

    Guys,

A month of scores of people adjusting sliders and still no real consensus on what works and what doesn't.

My question is, rather than have everyone's efforts poured into continuing in this vein, would it make sense to start analyzing what needs to change in adjusting player ratings in order to get a good simulation on the field?

It just seems that if all the people working on sliders turned their attention to how the players should be re-rated, it might solve everyone's issues.

Alot of work, yes...but a month of slider tweaking with most people still being disappointed seems to indicate maybe another method is warranted.

    Thoughts?

well although i am totally addicted with this game, and cant stop playing it...i mmust agree with you...its been hard to find a set o sliders that would produce realistic result in a long term period like a full season.
i dont know about the rerating thing, but it could be a good solution.

Boston and Ortiz has 100 power rating. That is not realistic. re-rating is what should be done. Too bad there is not global editor. I down-rated the Yankees and have very good results for hitting. I went so far as to call up all AAA players to see how the game plays. These players have much lower ratings and at least for hitting, the game was toned down. From the tone down state, there is room to move sliders up. I use Classic batting and do like to use the L stick particulary when wanting to hit down the line. So the toned downed hitting prevents the HR derby and doubles derby.

I'm getting real good results with Heelfan's sliders with a few edits. Some pitcher's duels and some blowouts.

I feel like I'm really close to getting the sliders downpact. I don't think editing is needed as baseball as strange game. It's not like editing football or basketball players. However, I think some problems are caused by the different options of game mechanics that people use. Somone uses payoff, but another uses zone. Someone uses Swingstick, but another uses Classic.

The truth is in order to get a great pair of universal sliders you'd have to test sliders with EVERY team and that is not practical at all. Problem is people are testing their sliders with one team, but a set of sliders that are realistic for the Yankees may not be realistic if you are using the DRAY.s

Hence, this is why the games should play correctly right out of the box with no sliders. The game should play by the player attributes. My opinion of course.
