what to do about the HRs

i am wondering if i could get some feedback on the sliders i am using to see what can be done to lower the amount of HRs i hit with classic swing... my last two games i have scored 14 runs ALL OFF OF LONG BALLS (8 or 9 of them)... last game was 4 runs, 4 homers, 7 or 8 hits overall, while the CPU scored 2 on 11 hits with no HRs... also no CPU HRs in the last game... i know that we normally don't want to concern ourselves with small sample sizes like this but i'm really thinking that there needs to be an adjustment so i get more doubles and less HRs, i just don't know how to do it... here's my slider settings that i think are relevant:

    batter contact 30
    batter power 0
    batter influence 50
    power swing 0
    step influence 0
    pitcher difficulty 75
    pitch speed 75

    ai pitching:
    ai corner 60
ai throw strike overall 45, ahead 50, behind 65
    ai fatigue 65
    ai meat pitch 0

as far as the CPU not hitting any... i think i'm a pretty good pitcher but:

all ai take strike settings @ 40, all take ball settings @ 25
    ai skill (batting) 40
    ai contact 40
    ai power 50
    ai pitcher difficulty 50
    ai effectiveness mod 60

I'm using Heelfan's settings, then turning dynamic difficulty on. My last 3 games I haven't had 1 HR.

Use Heelfans settings and turn AI pitch difficulty down to 40, contact at 50 and power at 55 for more AI offense. As far as the user homers, I use contact at 25 and pitch difficulty at 100. I still get 1-3 homers a game, but this is the best I can get it down to. I also do not guess on pitches and turn the meat pitch down to 0.

Try putting the batting contact on 0, and pitch difficulty on 100. if 75 pitch speed is good enough for you leave it, if you are hitting it easily then bump it up to make it more challenging. The trade off is you may strike out more, but you'll also hit less homers if you're making less contact. The batting contact on 0 will prevent you from getting "good wood" on a ball that is out of the strike zone. A lot of the times you'll whiff all together. Makes it more realistic especially with the batters who are not good contact hitters. It forces you to be patient and work counts.

I play with batting contact, power swing, and batting power all on 0. Pitcher difficulty 100 and Pitch speed at 80 with the camera zoomed up to 30 and Im averaging 2 homers a game. In real life the average is about 1 per game (per team) but i only had 1 game in my season where i hit 9 homers and that really inflated my average, the other games have been very realistic in terms of homers, i been hitting anywhere from 0-3. I am not consistently jacking out 5 a game. Keep in mind i am using the Yankees who have a lot of guys with inflated power attributes in the game so im happy with my results.

If you want to use some house rules also dont use the left analog stick unless you are using a power hitter. I dont do this all the time. The only time i dont use the left analog stick consistently is when I have 2 strikes, then i just focus on trying to make contact. I sitll strike out a lot though lol

If the AI are not hitting enough than i play with AI Skill on 70, contact 55, power 50. Im pleased with these results too...

I know it kind of sucks but I have gone with no sticking up. All i push is the swing button and that is it. Kind of boring to swing that way but i get the results I want. My hitting sliders look pretty similar to yours. You should just try it.

i would prefer to fix the problem with sliders rather than house rules, but if it is the only way, i can live with that... i don't want to lower the contact past 25 because otherwise i will probably strike out in the double digits each game... i will try turning up pitch difficulty... maybe lowering contact AND pitch speed i won't see too many strikeouts... thanks for the ideas, any more would certainly still be appreciated

Re: what to do about the HRs

i changed all the user batting sliders (contact through step influence) to 25 and played my last game on swing stick... also bumped ai power up to 50 and ai contact up to 60 and had a satisfying loss to the yankees 8-2... definitely felt like i was punished for leaving pitches up and the like... batting-wise it took a little while to get readjusted to swing stick so mussina posted like 12 Ks on me... pretty happy with the setup though... i'm going with the house rule of no power swings unless i guess correctly, and then i get overexcited and whiff right through the pitch with my free-swinging tigers lol

First of all no matter what you do you will never get rid of th HR problem the best you can do is contain it. The best way I have found to contain it is. This works for both classic and swing stick. Drop all of the player batting
                  sliders to 0.

Put the Batt Inf and the Step timeing slider both at 100 and your players will hit true to there rating. That is the only way to do it without sacerficeing hits. Make sure the rest of the batting sliders are at 0 though.

With Batt Influence at 100 it kinda makes up for the power being on 0, and it also gives you a balance between grounders and pops.

The step timing slider at 100 is more for swing stick then classic but effects both. With this slider at 100 allows for more hit variety. example cpu fouls more on classic swing with it at 100. but it affects the swing stick more.
