Re: Amazin86er's Final All Star Sim(but yet still fun)Custom Settings and Sliders 3.0
My team-NY Yankees, I have not tested these little tweaks to Amazin's great sliders with any other team.
I was rockin' the ball with these at default and have tweaked them for a nice balance. One thing, you will crush bad pitching(Orioles staff) and will be hard pressed to get a ball out of the infield against a great staff(Red Sox) just as I think it should be. Its nice to get shut down every once in a while(sometimes for a 3 game set). I have also noticed rivalry games can get pretty intense.
My small edits;
Batting skill- was 80, mine 77
Batting Contact- was 50, mine 45
Batting Power- was 30, mine 28
Step Influence- was 0, mine 25
Pitcher Difficulty- was 75, mine 90
Pitch Speed- was 50, mine 60 (try hitting off Nolan Ryan)
Thats it, small tweaks for the most part, thanks to Amazin for making this game a true sim. GrabComment

Re: Amazin86er's Final All Star Sim(but yet still fun)Custom Settings and Sliders 3.0
I tried these for the first time last night and I liked my results - i play as the Phils and I was taking on the Nationals, games 2 of my Franchise. Revently I've gotten pretty confortable with the pitching mechanics and been pretty dominate on the mound so I decided to step it up.
Brett Myers started against Shawn Hill - Myers struggled through 5, giving up 2 bombs to Austin Kearns - I hung 2 curveballs middle-in and he killed them. After 5 I lifted Myers, trailing 3-2 as Howard added a 2 run blast for the Phils. In the bottom of the 5th I scratched out a run, getting Myers off the hook and tying the game. I then brought in JD Durbin - and the wheels fell off as he gave up 5 in the 6th (including one where Victorino ran right past a grounder resulting in an inside the parker - I don't like the aerial cam and switched back to Pole cam) essentially ending the game.
I like the sliders so far, obviously one game is not a good test but so far so good - except for that aerial cam, it's just too high for me - maybe I'll try it again later. It took me a few innings to get used to the suggested batting cam but I did like it after 3-4 innings or so."It's a dog-eat-dog world and I'm wearing Milk-Bone underwear."

I agree with you on the arial fielding camera, I can not catch fly balls with it. The camera is zoomed out too far for me.ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

Plus I think part of the issue is that guys don't like charging the ball."It's a dog-eat-dog world and I'm wearing Milk-Bone underwear."

Considering a few changes and was hoping some of you would help me test them to come to a decision or happy medium.
Possible adjustments----------
Step Influence 50
Total Pitch Control 65
Pitch Speed 60
I have noticed a few strange things lately such as sometimes it seems the AI takes over my outfielders not allowing me to come in on line drives or try and make a diving catch. Also saw something pretty funny, I was playing the Rockies and Moises Alou hit a high foul pop up to the right of first base, as Todd Helton drifted into the first base coaching box he collided with my first base coach and the ball dropped. Moises Alou promptly doubled on the next pitch.Last edited by Amazin; 03-25-2008, 10:23 PM.Comment

I beat Dice K 7-3 last night(struck out 8 times, damn offspeed stuff down kills me). I am really having a great time. I hit 4 bombs, seems like alot but each one was on a hanging curve up in the zone, most major leaguers park that pitch so IMO pretty realistic. Finally got Papi to go 0 for 4, he had been killing me this year, low and outside sports fans. Facing Wakefield after work, the guy owns my ***, anyone able to hit him? GrabComment

Re: Amazin86er's Final All Star Sim(but yet still fun)Custom Settings and Sliders 3.0
I have seen as many as three stolen base attempts in one game. I would say on average one per game but something to consider is that not many teams have what you would call true base stealers and it really isn't a big part of the game anymore especially in the American League. For example in the two games between the A's and Red Sox I did not see an attempt.Comment

Actually I was mistaken Suzuki stole one in the first game and Lugo stole one in the second game, but, unfortunately, overall steals are not a big part of the game anymore. Although they have been on the rise over the last couple years.Comment

Re: Amazin86er's Final All Star Sim(but yet still fun)Custom Settings and Sliders 3.0
I have been playing some test games over the last couple of days and getting good results with the suggested changes such as Total Pitch Control at 65 and Pitch Speed at 60. The one setting I am not to sure about is Step Influence at 50 which I find it a little easier to hit and the overall offensive production has seemed to increase a bit. I find it unrealistic that you can swing at pitch 4-6 inches off the outside corner with a right handed hitter and hit a shot off the left centerfield wall because you made a perfect step.Comment
