    APD0290's Custom-A Slider Project

Just wanted to clarify these are a work in progress. I'm posting this right now because I want to track how I adjust my sliders, and see what tweaks are getting me better results. I've already played 20 games or so just adjusting accordingly, so I feel like I'm pretty close to final.

I must say though, a lot of credit goes to bigfnjoe. His sliders were a starting point for me, and I doubt I would be enjoying this game half as much as I am now without his sliders. So some of his sliders may reflect into mine.

Start from Legend and put these in. You should get Custom-A.

    Re: APD0290's Custom-A Slider Project

Just played a quick franchise game. Josh Beckett vs Carlos Silva, at Fenway. Was quite the mismatch and I was able to get to their bullpen early off, and just absolutely demolished the Mariners. Beckett dominated and I was just teeing off on their bullpen.

    Code:
                                             R H E
    Mariners- 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 1 2 4 2
    Red Sox- 1 0 6 2 0 1 0 0 X 10 13 1

    J.Beckett (W) - 7.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 6 K
    K. Snyder - 2.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 K

    C. Silva (L) - 2.1 IP - 7 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 1 BB, 4 K
    H. Ramirez- 5.2 IP - 6 H, 5 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 3 K

2B: Jacoby Ellsbury, David Ortiz, Mike Lowell
HR: Manny Ramirez 2, Mike Lowell, J.D Drew
RBI: Jacoby Ellsbury 2, Manny Ramirez 5, Mike Lowell 2, J.D Drew 1
    BB: Jason Varitek 2
    SB: Jacoby Ellsbury
For a #1 starter going against a #5 it wasn't to bad, but still seemed to easy to hit home runs. I'm going to try putting step influence up to 25 to make home runs seem a lot more special, and maybe try making the computer hitting a tad bit harder.

Just played 2 more games, one was against the Phillies and then the Cardinals. First game was pretty late so I didn't copy the box score, but I lost 8-0 and Cole Hamels went 8 innings striking out 11. I only got 4 hits and was completely lost going up against Hamels. I pitched Lester and he went 5 innings and gave up 4. Took him out right after a 3 run shot by Ryan Howard, accidentally hung a high and out fastball.

Then I played the Cardinals. The matchup was Mark Mulder going up against DiceK. Cardinals started off pretty hot, scoring 3 runs in the first inning. Took me awhile to realize that Troy Glaus can't hit a breaking pitch if his life depended on it, but after his 1st inning home run DiceK was pitching great and was able to go 7 innings giving up 4. Mark Mulder shut me out through 6 innings, striking out 4 but had to come out after he gave up his 5th walk. I scored 2 runs off their relievers but other than that my offense was pretty weak. I lost 4-2.

      Code:
                                                R H E
      Cardinals- 3 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 4 8 0
      Red Sox- 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 1 2 6 1

      D. Matsuzaka (L) - 7.0 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 0 BB, 6 K
      J. Lopez - 0.1 IP, 1 H
      M. Timlin- 1.2 IP, 0 H

      M. Mulder - 6.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 5 BB, 4 K
      R. Franklin- 2.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 K
      J. Isringhausen- 1.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 K

2B: Mike Lowell, Jason Varitek, J.D Drew
      HR: Kevin Youkilis, Jason Varitek
      RBI: Kevin Youkilis, Jason Varitek
BB: Jason Varitek 2, Manny Ramirez, Kevin Youkilis 2

        Re: APD0290's Custom-A Slider Project

Played another game, I feel like these sliders were perfect if I could just tone down the cpu and human home runs. I'm going to lower contact for the AI because right now I'm getting smashed left and right. I'm also going to try and make some roster edits and lower the power ratings for some of the players and see how it plays out, because I feel I've done as much as I can to tone down the home runs.

        Code:
                                                   R H E
        Devil Rays- 0 0 0 5 0 0 4 0 X 9 17 0
        Red Sox- 0 0 1 1 0 0 0 2 0 4 9 0

        T. Wakefield (L) - 6.0 IP, 12 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 0 BB, 4 K
        J. Tavarez - 2.0 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER

        A. Sonnanstine (W) - 5.0 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 4 K (Injury)
        J. Salas (S) - 4.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 6 K

2B: Kevin Youkilis, Mike Lowell, J.D Drew, Jason Varitek
HR: Kevin Youkilis, David Ortiz, Dustin Pedroia
RBI: Kevin Youkilis, David Ortiz, J.D Drew, Dustin Pedroia
BB: None (I was getting impatient this game)
I'm going to make a few slider and roster changes and see how it works.

          Re: APD0290's Custom-A Slider Project

Just started my franchise, lost the first game against the A's and came back to win the next two. All of the games were pitchers duels. I lost 1-0, then won 2-0, and then won 4-1. So I've gone from getting completely smashed by the computer to shutting them out. Then again I was playing the A's so it was pretty realistic. I hit 2 home runs in the series, one by Papi and another by Youks. Both were high fastballs that I timed perfectly and was by far the most rewarding home runs I hit so far playing this game. I'm currently batting .157 so I'm going to try to raise that against their 4th starter, but so far I'm EXTREMELY happy in how the game is playing. You MUST be patient at the plate and wait for that right pitch, or you'll see your self striking out a lot.

I'm going to go finish off this series against the A's. Hopefully I can string some hits together and raise that batting average.

            Re: APD0290's Custom-A Slider Project

Sliders feel pretty much final.Played about 8 games in my franchise and I'm currently 0.5 games back from first from Baltimore and New York. My record is 5-3 and I have a 3.64 ERA and I'm averaging 4.8 runs a game. As a team I'm batting .193, but I'm going up by the game and I'm getting some 10+ hit games which will eventually get me over .200 as a team. Here's my stats player by player so far.

            Code:
                                     BA HR RBI OBP
            1. Dustin Pedroia - .143 1 3 .273
            2. Kevin Youkilis - .250 2 6 .323
            3. David Ortiz - .387 4 7 .429
            4. Manny Ramirez - .133 0 3 .212
            5. Mike Lowell - .241 1 5 .333
            6. J.D Drew - .320 4 7 .346
            7. Jason Varitek - .115 1 3 .148
            8. Julio Lugo - .160 0 3 .250
            9. Jacoby Ellsbury - .043 0 0 .154

              Re: APD0290's Custom-A Slider Project

Just played a pretty good game in my franchise. First game of the Red Sox vs Yankees series and I hit a walk off double by Mike Lowell to win. Mike Lowell eneded up driving all my runs in and basically won the game for me. Jon Lester went 7 strong giving up no runs, striking out 9. Then Okajima came in and blew it, and Papelbon pitched the ninth to lock down the Yanks from scoring anymore runs. These sliders played a great game of baseball and I'm having a blast with them.

              Code:
                                                         R H E
              Yankees- 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 3 0 3 11 1
              Red Sox- 3 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 4 5 0

              J. Lester- 7.0 IP, 6 H, 0 ER, 9 K
              H. Okajima - 0.1 IP, 3 H, 3 ER
              J. Papelbon (W) - 1.2 IP, 2 H, 2 K

              C. Wang - 7.0 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 2 K
              S. Henn (L) - 1.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB

2B: Dustin Pedroia, Mike Lowell (walk off)
              HR: Mike Lowell
              RBI: Mike Lowell 4
BB: Dustin Pedroia, Kevin Youkilis, Mike Lowell, Julio Lugo

2B: Johnny Damon, Derek Jeter, Robinson Cano

RBI: Johnny Damon, Alex Rodriguez, Jason Giambi
