It might be how much good wood you get on the ball, in reference to where the pitch is. If I'm correct, this could help with players pulling outside pitches for HR's which has plagued this game for a long time..

Re: The "OS Breakdown" of the 2K9 Slider Theory
EX: Right Handed batter Say the pitch is low and away, That batter will be able to do less with that pitch other than to just go with it to right field. Hence which means the odds of him getting a base hit to the left side of the field is highly decreased.
The higher the slider the tougher it is to take pitches and make most of them. Another common example, low pitches will be harder to drive out of the park, let alone elevate them into the air.

Re: The "OS Breakdown" of the 2K9 Slider Theory
I'm interested in the three at the top; Success, Contact and Power.

Success, like last year, probably influences the "quality" of hits when the CPU makes contact

Contact probably influences the computer's overall ability to make contact

Power probably influences the computer's output of doubles, triples and homeruns.

Lowering contact, while not influencing when the CPU swings, will reduce the likelihood it connects. That in theory could lead to deeper at bats.Comment

Tweaking this could also lead to a lot more ground balls.Comment

Re: The "OS Breakdown" of the 2K9 Slider Theory
Could AI batting success adjust the way a hitter approaches the at bat? Kind of like their vision to feel out balls and strikes?
Also with regards to the AI Inside edge batting zone influence, could that be making them swing more? I see that it is maxed. This basically would put more weight on their hot and cold zones, no? It could make them a little more aggressive.
Just some thoughts.Last edited by nemesis04; 02-16-2009, 12:12 AM.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

2. I really feel the same way. If you notice on All-Star the slider is @ 100. 1 thing that has always bugged me about the MLB 2K Sliders is they never stay the same when switching from 1 difficulty to the next. They always change. My hope is this is not the case this year..
I know-1 thing, I'm glad the have a Practice Mode this year to test different slider theories
The other thing I'm wondering is if the sliders will be like the NBA 2k9 Sliders where some slider #'s were 2 clicks & some were 1 clickComment

I definitely think backing it down would be a step in the right direction to quiet them a little.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

1. Good Stuff nemesis.. Never crossed my mind in that manner.

Yeah, I do not like that the sliders change with the difficulty either. I did not spend too much time with last years game but I like what I see with 09 and will spend some time with it. It definitely needs some slider fiddling but I like tinkering with that stuff!“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

Re: The "OS Breakdown" of the 2K9 Slider Theory
What the hell do you suppose Pitcher Handedness means?
As a writer, I just wish some of this stuff was more transparent. Trying to figure out what some of these mean without having the game is like answering a Buddhist riddle. I mean, what's the sound of one hand clapping? And does it get louder if we increase the clapper handedness influence slider, or does it get quieter?.

Re: The "OS Breakdown" of the 2K9 Slider Theory
I imagine pitcher handedness effects lefties success versus lefties, righties versus righties, etc.Comment

Re: The "OS Breakdown" of the 2K9 Slider Theory
That would make sense. Thanks! I don't suppose you can put that any less eloquently than they did, but it's probably the most economical way.Comment
