    Impressive game, you mentioned.

Been using your sliders recently and had an outrageous game. Washington Nationals (myself) against the Florida Marlins. It was 8-1 Marlins, until the 9th. My team had 2 hits, 1 HR, then we rallied a 6 run 9th inning. Right when my hopes were down, it as amazing.

    Ha!

But lost 8-7. Marlins had 14 hits, I had 9 myself. Their starting pitching was fantastic until they went to the pen. I was held to 2 hits until, they went to the pen and then it broke lose.

Enjoying your sliders, I drew 1 BB. Looking forward to the second game of that series.

Edited: Does anyone realize this when the dynamic locator is on the 'locked' option. TWICE! My outfielders got in position for a fly ball and it flew over their heads. One of them cost me in giving up a inside-the-parker. Just curious if anyone has experienced this?
GREAT GREAT CATCH.......I have had 4-5 balls drop right beside my outfielder and was wondering why now that i have had this issue when i hadn't before using these sliders....this was driving me crazy to the point i was having no fun playing my games.........THANKS

Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders

Well, I am wondering if there is something to the "randomness" of whether your team shows up to play or not.

As I wrote in a past game summary, I went twenty innings with my RedSox versus the Braves, and lost 5-4 with 7 hits for my squad and no home runs.

      Last night.... different story.

Matsuzaka vs Willis at Fenway, and the Sox break out with 28 hits and wallop the Tigers 18-5.

      28 hits, -10 singles, 13 doubles and 5 hr.

perdroia hits 4 doubles, Tek, Lowell Bay and Youk with 2 each and it was barely fun.
Ortiz hits 2 homers and goes 4-5 on the night. Now, the last Ortiz bomb, a 3 run shot, goes over the bullpen in right, and he finishes his HR swing with his signature one handed twirl kind of thing he does when he knows he got one, so the sig style for that bomb was totally spot-on.

Matsuzaka goes the distance with 108 pitches, 75 for strikes, and he strikes out 8 Tigers. So, I am more than happy with the pitch count and although I throw a lot of balls on purpose to set up hitters, I am happy with the result for this game.

The Tigers had 14 hits , 11 singles and 3 doubles. One of which was when I started the pitch too early, as Granderson was still in his pre-swing routine, and when the cpu finally let the pitch meter start, it was dead center in the plate, and I got abused for the bad pitch, so actually, if the cpu will take advantage of a bad pitch and make me pay, i am loving that.

So, herein lies the trouble. one game, I can muster no offense, and the next game I go hog-wild and tear the cover off the ball. Hmm.... I am not one for conspiracy theories, but the idea of programming the game to basically have your team be hot like lava one night and unable to muster anything the next time you start the console is... well.... interesting. That is kind of how it works in real life... the team is hitting the snot out of the ball a couple games, and then goes cold. I am okay with that I guess.

But I need to definitely look at the sliders. I am happy with the HR's becasue they were hit by guys who ought to have hit them, and I hit good pitches with perfect swings. Tek, Lowell, Ortiz (2), and Pedroia go yard, and these are the first HR's that I have seen at Fenway over the monster (Except Ortiz's).. so the power seems to be dialed in okay...

But holding up at the 10 o'clock position on the L-stick resulted in waaaaaaaaaaay too many doubles off the wall. I mean, 13 doubles is just not right. But if I do not use the L-stick influence, then I am not going to see HR's using the R-stick for hitting. So, I am wondering if I need to adjust Contact or Success way down so that the game cuts the quality at bats in half?

Now, I will play another game with those sliders, and if it is another 3-1 nail biter, then something is wonky, but maybe the fact that Willis is the Tiger #5 starter, the cpu gives the batters too much leverage as far as his stats versus the batters, and lets me unload. When I face a team's #1, like D. Lowe the other night, my guys could not hit anything...

I am sure we are getting close to a slider set that makes this game great, but for me, last night's game was way to Arcade for me. I am thinking of knocking down the Success and Contact to 20. Basically cutting it in half, to see if that makes the game even out the hits/outs ratio.

The best part about it.... I cannot wait to get home and try it out. Still loving the game, I love the pitching and IE info to pitch smarter, I have had NO issues with errors and first baseman problems, and I think I am going to bump the errors for both sides up maybe one click. In the twenty inning game, and last night's 42 hits between the clubs, no errors again??

      Back to Sliderville I go.

Joe, I did figure out the AI hitting and lack of production problem. I had an old set of sliders. The newer sliders help a lot with that issue. That being said, I'm still making contact and putting far too many balls in play. I'm a very average player, so I'm not saying I'm great by any means. I'm trying to be more patient at the plate and not free swinging. The free swinging approach leads to a softball game feel.
I've lowered human contact to zero and that does little. So Joe or any one else, I'm seeking a little advice. I think it has something to do with pitching and changing speeds and mixing up pitches. When I play the Astros (I'm the Cubs), Oswalt eats me up because he does that quite a bit. Would lowering or raising pitch speed help? I know it's under human pitching, but I thought last year that the pitch speed slider was the same way and it would work for both human and AI.
What we need is a .pdf manual explaining the bloody sliders a little more.

After playing a few more games, I've gone to classic hitting, contact-0, and hitting success-20. That seems to help a little, but not much.

Yeah I had the same problem with the fly balls right over my head.

I just started using these sliders now. They're good, I'm having trouble hitting a little bit. I'm a pretty free swinger so it'll take some adjustments. I lost to the Pirtates and Nationals using the Cubs...yikes.

It says that these sliders are final...does that mean you won't be making any adjustments throughout the season? Maybe if the patch changes things?

Yeah I'm getting this too. Usually 3-4 innings a game I will retire the side with 3 pitches.

i've only managed to hit HR's by pushing up on the left stick, but i feel that it may be slightly over done. i dont always push up, but when i do i usually hit a bomb, especially to the opposite field. i homered with morneau in my twins franchise in my first four games pushing up every time. the closest i have come without pushing up is a ball that hit the base of the wall with brendan harris.

Just downloaded version 3.0 and i must say they are nice. only played one game so far, but it was an improvement over 2.0. i noticed the cpu swings through pitches in the zone more, which i think combats the fact they do swing at most pitches in the zone, no matter the count.

                                Phi 9 - 15 - 1

I hit 2 ABSOLUTE BOMBS with Howard. Upper decked the first one. It was awesome.

Here is the thing I found. The L-Stick does influence big time, HOWEVER you need to wait for the pitch.

The next time up I was all pumped up to hit a HR and the pitcher threw one away I hit up to the right and swung and hit a weak ground ball.

I had some other sliders that were not "correct" I shelled the starter for a 6 run 3rd.

Made a diving grab in the OF, other than a couple odd throw meter glitches I have not had any issues that people are having. I'm sure I will at some point but I'm having a blast.

It also helps that this year the Phils are good LOL

                                Thanks BFJ and everyone....
