Here are the Hitting Sliders if anyone wants to test them-out:

    USER- Success 40, Contact 25, Power 100
    CPU- Success 50, Contact 50, Power 100

Then in the User Pitching Sliders do this:

Gesture Recognition 50, Hold Timing Influence 50

I'm still working on these sliders:

Pitcher Handedness Influence, Inside Edge Batting Zone Influence & Batting Pitch Influence.

I dropped them down to 65 across the board for the User & 75 across the board for the cpu & ended-up with a slugfest & a ton of HR's for 1 game (Indians & Yankees)

It seems like those sliders are very sensitive. Especially BPI Slider
    which is already @ 75.
So are these the settings you are still using?
Or are you back to using the ones on the first page?

Did anyone who uses Classic batting notice if they hit anymore homeruns than usual with these sliderS?

Not sure how the majority of your games are going with BBs both ways, but user walks have been helped out by one switch that I made to CPU Pitching

        CPU Settings - Pitching

        AI Pitch Success- 60
        AI Pitch Selection Tendency- 100
        AI Strike Zone Tendency- 0*
        AI Pitch Zone Tendency- 0*
        AI Pitcher Composure Influence- 90*

Pitchers still throw strikes and they throw all over the place. And walks do not go up as much as you'd think. I maybe get two or three a game on average.

          HR problems

I've only used these sliders for 5 games, and thus far, they've been very close to what you want. But, there is a growing concern in my head about home runs, and I thought maybe someone could answer my question before I waste another 30 games trying to to get a realistic franchise going.

My stats, through 5 games as the Cardinals, on average:

          batting
          8.2 hits/game
          1.4 walks/game
          .259 team Batting AVG

those are all great. Very realistic, maybe a bit low, but not bad. The problem

2.40 HR per game. That puts me on pace for 388 homers, which is a problem in itself. Now, it's only been five games, so I would expect this number to go way down, but I don't know how big the slumps and hot streaks are on this game.

So, question number one, will my team go into a big enough cold streak to balance homers out to around 200?

More alarming than that, 10 of my 12 homers have come from 2 players: Albert Pujols and a slightly worse created player. Both have 5 home runs. If they go without a homer for the rest of April, they will still be on pace for a 30 homer season.

So, question number 2, will these players go into enough of a cold streak to down their numbers? They're both rated in the high 90s, and I'd expect maybe 50 to 60 homers from them, so it doesn't have to be a monstrous drop.

          Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

using the sing stick with these sliders will result in alot of homeruns. and it seems as though the hrs will be hit most likely by 2 players from your squad. I had the same issue with my REd Sox franchise.

the numbers do eventually pan out but I couldnt stand the predictability of the hrs.

at one point it seemed as though I was hitting more hr's than singles.
in one stretch I was hitting about 4-6 hr's per game.

I lowered the power sliders to 60 and increased the contact to 50 to get a more homerun #'s to my liking.

now Im getting a good variety.

if you dont want to mess with the batting sliders the next best thing to do is increase the AI pitch success rate.

Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders

I'm using these sliders, slightly modified and they are working GREAT for my braves franchise. I've played two games so far.

                Reds 3 10 1
                Braves 2 6 1

                Reds 3 9 0
                Braves 7 13 0

I've had walks, strikeouts, called third strikes, good range of hits, a realistic amount of homeruns...all around good. The modifications I've made are in red and they're minor. I may up the user gesture recognition slider if CPU offense doesn't increase a bit but other than that I'm having great games.

Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders

Hmmm. After playing 7-8 games user and cpu offense is a little bit lacking - mainly due to a lack of XBH and HRs.

I've upped CPU success to 60.
I've upped user gesture recognition to 65.
Hit Direction Influence i lowered to 25 (this i did initially, just forgot to put it in my post)
AI Pitch success down to 55

Hopefully these changes will promote some offense. Any suggestions for changes to make beyond these?

The most runs the CPU has scored is 4. Most runs I've scored is 7 (once) followed by 4. Game scores have been 4-0, 2-3, 4-1, 3-4, 7-3, 1-2, etc. WHIP is basically in line where it should be but there's too many singles which end with runners left on base and not enough scoring. Need more home runs. I think I've seen maybe 3 CPU home runs and 2 user home runs in 7-8 games.

                  Suggestions?

PS. I'm playing with the Braves (strong pitching, crap offense) so maybe it's accurate? My franchise keeps up with the real life schedule so I'm currently playing the yankees. I started playing with these sliders vs. the reds about a week ago - also played a series against boston and now I'm playing NY.

I play with the Braves as well and I noticed the same lack of XBH/HR's in the beginning as well. What I did is messed around with the batter success/contact/power sliders to make things a bit more interesting. I also found editing the CPU pitching sliders to make the opposing pitcher a little more "random" and not pinpoint accurate let me work counts a bit better and I would see more pitches a little higher in the zone.

^^^^ I don't usually find that so. I find that even on off days it just takes a little shuffling in the lineup to get a good chance of winning.

using the updated sliders (with all the new changes i've read here in the various posts) and LOVE them!!

i dropped user power down to 80 but i'm experimenting a bit...i hit 5 dingers (with the Rays) in one game but then after dropping the slider down 10 (from 90 to 80) i didn't hit any with baltimore (vs. toronto).

i just picked this game up a week ago, but these sliders have been a blast (once i got the controls figured out).

i was the rays and beat minny 9-4 - but the game was close until i scored 4 runs in back to back innings.

i lost 3-2 (as baltimore vs. toronto) in 13 innings. guthrie had a shutout going into the 6th inning, but i gave up 2 runs in the 7th (he tired out and my bullpen wasn't ready). had the bases loaded in the bottom of the 13th and popped out.

but i walked away from those 2 games having had a blast playing them. thanks for the sliders!!

                              Joe,

What did changing the user batting pitch influence from 75 to 65 do for you? That's one of those sliders that's set at 75 across the board for all the default settings so I figured it wasn't meant to be changed (kind of like IE influence).

What did changing the user batting pitch influence from 75 to 65 do for you? That's one of those sliders that's set at 75 across the board for all the default settings so I figured it wasn't meant to be changed (kind of like IE influence).
I changed it because I found-it awfully hard to get good wood on pitches on the outside part of the plate. I also found it a little difficult to get hits in the gap even when using the L-Analog to influence hits.

Ever since the PATCH, this game has favored the AI heavily in most areas. I also raised the AI Pitch Success Slider to 75 as a counter-balance which I found works well.
