CPU vs CPU sliders: anybody working on some?

I know it’s a bit early, and the game just came out for the masses, but is there anyone out there who will be or is working on CPU vs CPU sliders? I’ve played four games in this mode, and despite the “negative” comments in other threads, I don’t see the myriad of gameplay flaws that others are commenting on. I do see the slowdown of the outfielders on some flyballs, but other than that, the game seems to play much better than last years version. Anyway, I have taken some clues from other slider posts and tried to come up with my own, (which I can’t post now, I’m at work) but I know there are some settings that will help the gameplay a lot, but I don’t know what each and every slider and gameplay settings affect…for example, does the user sliders need to be used at all if I’m playing cpu vs cpu? I lowered pitchers stamina down to 30, both starters in my first three games went easily into the 8th innings on the default setting. Any help would be appreciated.

I will post what I have when I get home...it may be a good base for the "expert" slider creators to work with. my games have not been outrageous, but there seems to be a comeback logic near the end of games...or maybe that's just the aforementioned starters getting tired...who knows.

I am very interested in these as well. I would be willing to help out with testing and tweaking if you can post what you currently have Johnrii.

Yes, I am working on this, just not at the moment because I am at work.

Re: CPU vs CPU sliders: anybody working on some?

ok...here we go. tried to load up the franchise i had started last night, and for some reason, the game kept freezing up right after "load". started a new one with the cubs, and am using just the AI settings from another thread in the slider forum "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders. here are the settings....

              Game Settings

Injuries- OFF (Saw to many injuries from sliding)
              Pitcher Fatigue- 55
              Hold Runners- Smart Hold
              DH- AL Hosted
Catcher Suggestion- OFF (Catcher calls to many of the same pitch consecutively)

              CPU Settings - Batting

              CPU Settings - Pitching

              AI Pitch Success- 75
              AI Pitch Selection Tendency- 100

              AI Pitch Zone Tendency- 65
              AI Pitcher Composure Influence- 100

              CPU Settings - Fielding

              AI Fielding Errors- 0
              AI Fielder Speed- 50

              CPU Settings - Running

              AI Hit'n'Run Tendency- 75
              AI Sacrifice Bunt Tendency- 75
              AI Squeeze Tendency- 50

              AI Steal Aggression- 65
              AI Steal Success- 55

I don't really see any reason to adjust the user settings, since it is CPU VS CPU.I'm watching a game now, looking for any peculiar happenings (good or bad). any input would be appreciated...this is my first attempt at my own slider settings. thanks to bigfnjoe96 for the foundation.....

Re: CPU vs CPU sliders: anybody working on some?

alright, here are some stats from the first game

                Cubs 4, Astros 1

Zambrano 7 innings pitched, 5 hits, 0 walks, 3 SO
                Oswalt 7.2 innings pitched, 6 hits, 0 walks 8 SO, 1 ER

                Cubs 10 hits, astros 8
two walks (to the cubs, after oswalt was taken out)
zero homeruns, zero doubles, zero triples...all hits were singles

I will play one more game with no adjustments to see if it was just two good pitchers dueling it out, or we may need to adjust the hitters power slightly.....maybe.

Re: CPU vs CPU sliders: anybody working on some?

                  next game

                  Cubs 3 astros 0

                  cubs 12 hits (1hr) astros 3hits
Rich Harden pitched the whole game, and of the 15 hits, all but one was a single. there was one walk in the game, by the Astros relief pitcher byrdak. Harden struck out 6, And the astros starter Backe struck out 3 in 5.1 innings. also to note, the cubs got caught stealing 3 times, so maybe steal sucess needs to be moved up a little. here are the changes I am making to see if we get more of a balance game

                  pitcher fatigue down to 40
AI batting contact up to 45
AI steal success up to 65

be back in about an hour...

Re: CPU vs CPU sliders: anybody working on some?

                    Astros 3 cubs 0

                    W. Rodriguez (astros starting pitcher) 9 innings, 3 hits allowed, 0 walks, 5 strikeouts

                    T. Lilly cubs starter 6.1 innings, 8 hits allowed, 0 walks, 4 strikeouts

other notable stats: the strike percentage of each team
                    cubs .729 astros .739
zero homeruns for either team, all hits were singles except for a triple by Carlos Lee.

the pitching definitely needs to be toned down, somehow more walks needs to be generated. any help/advice would be appreciated. I'm done for the next two days, as I will be working 16 hour workdays thursday and friday. I'll check in late tomorrow night when I get home, maybe I can squeeze in a game....peace.

I'm glad someone else is working on these...my game keeps freezing up on me, even with the roster updates and all of that. I don't know if i will ever be able to log on again!!

If there's one thing I'm noticing in my CPU games thus far, it's that the CPU will never hit a HR with a batting success slider under 50. It controls it so much more than Power, and holds true for the user as well (try going into practice mode with a batting success slider of 0, and power/contact 100 if you don't believe me). Problem is, that's also a slider that controls the number of foul balls, and is key to getting past the first pitch that the AI hitter likes to swing at all the time.

That's head-bashing-into-wall frustrating. When the AB gets past the first pitch, I've actually seen some very realistic at-bats play out.

Edit: Hmm, I stand corrected. Just saw Aramis Ramirez take Jaime Garcia out of Wrigley on default Pro (35 CPU Batting Success). Maybe I haven't seen enough of this because I was using staff aces. Definitely going to have to look into this a little more (perhaps the pitching success slider ties into how hard the hits are too...)

Edit #2: HOOOLY CRAP, Reed Johnson just took him onto Waveland! NEVER saw power like this before at this setting, not even close!

I tried these and the hitters were hitting every pitch. No HR's as well. Maybe the 2nd patch will fix this. Thanks for posting.
