post patch cpu vs cpu sliders?
I have no idea what to tweak/change. just watched cubs/brewers game, and there were lots of 1st pitch strikes, but only 4 strikeouts between the two teams, all by the relief pitchers in the late innings. also, there were no walks. this is playing on default legend sliders. is anybody going to work on CPU VS CPU sliders at all? I will be glad to help, but working two jobs keeps me out of the loop a lot.Tags: None -
Re: post patch cpu vs cpu sliders?
used Guru's post patch sliders, and still getting very little offense (3-1, 2-0 games) and zero walks, but in each game, both starters went 7 innings with 4 strikeouts, included a couple of looking third strikes. I need to figure out how to increase the offensive output without losing the good pitching....any ideas? -
Re: post patch cpu vs cpu sliders?
I used Gura 3.0 and have made some changes. I upped the power to 85. It seems that the power hitters get a good cut it goes out where as his setting everything was a fly ball. I also went down to zero on the pitcher stamina because the total amount of pitches in a game have been under 90 by both teams. Also starts are going all the way too often. I am playing a franchise as the Mets and the first 2 games were
5-0 Mets Santans CG and Delgado HR 1 steal Reds
2-1 Mets Main 7in and 2 relivers
I will post a continuation late as I play more. So one blow out one close. My biggest thing will be pitcher stamina HR I can up it a little more.
Otherwise I used Gurus settingsComment

Re: post patch cpu vs cpu sliders?
I will try that when I get home tonight…maybe even up the slider for hits, because each team in the three games I played didn’t get more than 7 hits, and two of the games went into extra innings, and one homer has been hit. Pitcher stamina definitely needed to go down, starters are way too strong into the 7th and 8th innings, maybe this will result in more walks…thanks for the infoComment

Re: post patch cpu vs cpu sliders?
OK, now THIS is ridiculous. "watching" brewers and cubs...11th inning, 0-0. total strikeouts from zambrano and some brewer starter I've never heard of: 23. total walks: zero...there have been four runners thrown out trying to steal, and one double in the game. even as I type, the cubs have two men on, and ramirez just doubled to left center, score now 1-0...this is off of the third brewer reliever, and they just changed to the fourth. zambrano is still pitching. I lowered pitcher stamina to 15, but maybe zero is really where it needs to be...I will post gamestats after this is finally over.Comment

Re: post patch cpu vs cpu sliders?
alrighty...final score cubs 1 brewers 0. zambrano finished the game in 12 innings, 11 strikeouts, zero walks. he gave up 10 hits, but all singles. the brewers starter was gallardo, who went 8 innings, struck out 8 and gave up 4 hits. there was one walk in the game, and that was intentional. I need to figure out a way to get more walks and more offense...Comment

Re: post patch cpu vs cpu sliders?
I know most slider guru's don't change sliders for at least three to four games, but I made some adjustments, because the lack of offense in CPU VS CPU games is ridiculous, not to mention a lack of walks. below is what I'm changing from guru's sliders:
AI pitch success, down from 45 to 30
AI pitch zone, down to zero
AI batting success up to 60
AI batting power up to 90
just finished watching cubs vs rockies, cubs win 2-0. Harden vs Cook, and cook actually walked four, three unintentional. Harden walked zero, and struck out 9 in a complete game victory, while giving up 2 hits. Bradley (cubs) hit one HR, and there were several doubles in the game. I think I will keep these sliders and see what happens over the next 2-3 gamesComment

Re: post patch cpu vs cpu sliders?
The general problem with the CPU games is three-fold, and so far I'm not seeing much of a way to change any part of it.
1. The CPU throws too many first pitch strikes. The Strike frequency slider (or whatever it's called) can improve this some (I still think they throw too many), but that brings me to point 2:
2. The CPU swings at too many first pitches. Yes, still. It's better in the user vs. CPU games, but when it's only CPU the AI feels like it just has to hack at that first pitch out of the zone. It doesn't happen nearly every time like it did pre-patch, but still far too often to have realistic length at-bats. So far I haven't found a slider that can reliably affect this - I've seen a bit more patience at times with the batting pitch influence slider lowered, but nothing conclusive.
3. Not enough foul balls. This one's been beaten to death and has been that way in 2k's game for some time. It's impossible to draw walks consistently if you can't just foul off tough pitches, instead of being forced to put them into play.
I'm really starting to think mass rating edits (mostly to the walk rating, because it does actually allow batters to take pitches) are the only way to fix this, and for that reason I hope for someone to figure out a PC editor eventually.Comment

Re: post patch cpu vs cpu sliders?
next game results...shockingly: cubs 9, rockies 8
5 home runs were hit, 1 grand slam by bradley...neither starter made it past the 3rd inning. without any tweaks, there were zero walks by either team, so this is a step in the WRONG direction. I will not change anything until after next game, which i will run tommorow between Jobs. I REALLY wished the devs would release something to tell us what EACH AND EVERY slider means/does. it sure would make it easier to tweak the game. BTW, the cubs did send in Marmol to finish the game, he got the save, with two strikeouts, including two first pitch fastball on the outside of the plate that the rockies hitters did not swing at. pitchers are still throwing way too many first pitch strikes, but depending on the situation, the batter is not nearly as agressive. runners on base usually merits more patience, and the outside low fastball is usually taken, be it a ball or strike....Comment

Re: post patch cpu vs cpu sliders?
after three days of trying to figure out how to get more walks, I think I'm ready to give up...the only thing I haven't done over the last 6 games is lower ALL of the pitcher ratings to zero or close to it. even with the stamina to zero, starting pitchers seem to have inhuman staying power, the only way they get taken out by the CPU is if the opposing team is pounding them mercilessly. maybe over the weekend I will lower all pitcher sliders to 10-15 and see what happens.
PLEASE SOMEONE POST WHAT THE FUNCTION OF EACH SLIDER IS...or maybe we're stuck with another decent, but not great baseball game.....AGAIN.Comment

Re: post patch cpu vs cpu sliders?
after 3 weeks of tweaking/testing, here's what I've come up with for CPU vs CPU sliders. first, I read somewhere in the posts that stamina works in reverse order...the higher the number, the quicker they get tired. also, walks are still really hard to come by, and I'm still trying to figure out what to do with the CPU batting setting to change help this. below are the sliders I have used for about two weeks (10 or so games). if anybody happens to know if the user sliders matter on CPU vs CPU, please let me know. these settings are CPU only.
Batting success 35
batting contact 50
batting power 65
pitcher handedness influence 100 (wish I knew what this does)
IE batting zone influence 50 (ditto)
Batting pitch influence 100 (again, ditto)
bunt contact 75
bunt success 75
pitch success 40
pitch selection tendency 100 (what does this do?)
strike zone tendency 0
pitch zone tendency 15
pitcher composure influence 55 (this seems to make a big difference, somehow)
fielding errors 10
fielder speed 60
hit and run tendency 80
sacrifice bunt tendency 75
squeeze tendency 80
base running aggression 80
steal aggression 55
steal success 95
the running sliders are a roll of the dice anymore, since we don't have the option to lower/raise throwing power of the CPU players like 2k7. I find with these sliders a decent variety of scores, about 4 walks per game average (total), and about 6-7 strikeouts per game (total). homers seem to come in bunches, and later in the game, even though I think I may need to up the power slider by 10 for more consistency throughout the game. If anybody cares, I will post my results here throughout the next week, and any input/advice would be appreciated.Comment

Re: post patch cpu vs cpu sliders?
let two more games run while watching the NFL draft with the power moved to 75...1 2b and 1 hr in the two games, by both teams. however, 5 walks in one game, and 4 in the next. strikeouts were pretty much the same. I think I'm gonna raise power a little more and see what happens for the next three games.Comment

Why the hell would you want to sit there and watch two CPU teams play? Sounds exciting...and fun...Comment
