More pitch counts??

Have anyone found a slider formula that allows the batter & pitcher to battle it out for more than 5 pitches. I have the show, and sometimes the batter hits up to 10 baseballs at bat, mostly fouls. Trying to get that battle going and wondering if 2k9 allows that with sliders?

i actually had a 14 pitch at-bat yesterday. i fouled off 7 pitches, at one point it was 6 straight. part of it has to do with your left thumb stick, hitting pitches that don't go the direction you want them to, but you're just trying to make contact. (i wish they had a slider for this like mvp 05 for the original xbox does...).

have the batters eye and AI pitcher success sliders equal but raise the batters eye to above 50. raise the pitcher success to above 50.
lower the pitchers composure to 0-30. My personal preference-I have pitcher composure set to 0 for both AI and User.

With the CPU zone tendency and strike zone tendency set to 0 I'm finding it almost too easy to run up pitch counts on the CPU. I can get them to throw over 130 to 140 pitches with regularity. You have to take a lot of pitches though, not rely on foul balls. I feel foul balls are not enough of a factor in this game and I'm sure it will be tuned for next year. I think the trick is mixing up when you swing. Sometimes I swing on the first pitch even if its out of the zone. Sometimes I wait until the pitcher throws a strike. I get a lot of 4-7 pitch at bats this way. But your right regarding the Show, its much easier to get into an extended at bat in that game, mainly via foul balls.

I had a hilarious inning the other day where I was playing in my Yankees franchise against the Indians. Jeremy Sowers beaned the first two batters and then walked in 2 runs and gave up a grand slam and a solo shot inside one inning. 7 runs from 2 hits! The guy literally could not throw a strike for almost 12 pitches. I just sat back and watched him dissolve infront of my eyes and then pounced on the first fastball he left over the plate for a grand slam. Great fun.

try turning down your pitcher fatigue (game settings) to 40 - I'm even considering going down to 35.

i played last night (indians vs. twins) and i threw a total of 137 pitches and the CPU threw 121. (pitcher fatigue was at 40). i won 4-0 (laffey got the complete game shutout). i'm thinking of raising batting contact for the CPU - i had it down to 20, with hitting success at 50. i think i like the idea of having success at 50 but now tweaking the cpu's contact number. now i feel i've toned down the offense too much (ha - more tweaking!).

Yeah I have fatigue at 40, might try lower at some stage. I don't think the tweaking will end with this game. Part of the fun though.
