Pitch Speed at 75, The realistic one

I take a chronometer and tested with different Pitch Speeds what was the most realistic in terms of time to react.

And the 75 Pitch Speed it's the closest to what we see in reality. I Tested with Burnett who has a 96mph fastball and a curve and knuckle curve ball around the 81 to 87 mph.

Of course i tested more than 10 times each ball. And the results were

The time to react with the fastball it's around 0.36s to 0.39s.
With the Curve ball around 0.44s to 0.49s.

I mean the fastball around 100 mph gives you around 0.32s time to react and the slowest balls around 70 mph gives a little bit more than 0.53s

I was using the 80 Pitch Speed , but with this tested. Bigjoe and Blazzen were right about the 75 Pitch Speed. So to those who thinks that 100 pitch speed it's more realistic. Well, it's proven it's not.

But well this is just a game, each one plays the way you feel better. I just wanted to write this, because i like to play in a way more close to reality.

Tested again with other Pitchers and Back to the 80 Pitch Speed....

Have you thought about timing baserunners in a similar fashion? Granted I have only limited experience so far, but it seems to me that player speed (both baserunning and in the field) has a lot to do with how "realistically" the game plays. Of course the one thing it seems like we can't control with sliders is the speed of the ball coming off the bat, but I feel like if we have pitch speed and baserunning speed nailed down, we can tune the fielding speeds (both foot speed and throwing I guess) to our liking from there

I would think that the fastest runners in the game would be covering 90 ft in 3.3-3.5 seconds, no? (3/4 of a 40-yd. dash, sorry to reference a football combine but that's where the idea came from)

An average runner would be about 3.7 +/- .1, and your slowest dudes would be clocking in around 3.9-4s? A real baseball guy (it's my third sport) could probably give better estimates of what to expect here

i think this all depends on each others reaction speeds..

75 i still swing way ahead for some reason. i need it at 80 or 85.. bc for me, that makes going online easier bc it seems to balance out.

I must have fast reflexes because I find 75 very very slow. I have to force myself to not swing so early. I always had the same thing in real life. Faced some pitchers who hit in the 80's and had to force myself to wait.

It's been two years since I ran these same speed tests in 2K baseball. But when I did, 100 pitch speed was still too slow compared to real life pitches. IMO, no way this game comes close emulating the actaul speed of a fastball for example, even at 100. Gamers wouldn't be able to keep up and react in time if it did. So your comment that 75 seems much too slow makes a lot of sense to me.

I lowered the pitch speed from 100 to 75 in the middle of a game last night.... Didn't like it. Every pitch seemed to just float, which resulted in me becoming much more patient at the plate. The pitcher-batter duel seemed so watered down. Telling a ball from a strike was way too easy.

Exactly how I feel about anything lower than 80. I play at 90 right now. I want to feel like a real hitter, and i only get this with the slider at 90.

What I mean by this is I want to be in a position where I absolutely must guess right on what pitch is coming next or I will fail in the box. I'm guessing fast ball and the pitcher delviers a offspeed pitch. I want to be off with my timing, and this is what I get with the slider at 90.

At 75 I have plenty of time to see what the pitch is a react accordingly to it. Making it way to easy for me to hit. 75 is in no way realsitic, or a solid duplication of major league pitching.

I'm not saying everyone whould play at 90 or 100, but if you want to experience what a major league hitter does. Than 90 of higher is the only way to go.

Other thing that we have to take in count is that the pitch speed affects the contact and the power.. I think the higher the pitch speed, the better contact u have.

the Dou u guys use pitch speed at 90 just the CPU pitching or the user pitching too ??

To me 80 is solid also. I just recently moved to 90 from 80. I also make the pitch speed the same for both CPU and myself.
