    Having hitting troubles

So I have been toying with sliders and finally started a franchise. The thing is I am getting good scores, errors, and walks, but my hits are messed up. At 35 contact and 55 power for me I am striking out 10+ times a game literally and only have 4 HR's in 6 games with the Braves. But if I up the contact to just 40 I literally get 15+ hits a game. I don't know what to do.

I am having similar problems with the CPU. I am striking them out near 10 times a game, but if I up their contact just one click to 45 they get an unrealistic amount of hits every game.

    Any tips?

Franchise plays way different with sliders imo

    Any tips?
Since I use different sliders for hitting, I can only say that in franchise there are streaks.

For ex. You know how the stat overlays pop up and give you stats for the last 30days and so on, well I was at one point leading the NL in homers with like 28, well over the last 10 gms. I have only 4. The thing is the last 10 games I have faced the tougher pitching staffs back to back. I just finished playing the Braves 4 games and hit 1 homerun in that series.

See, I am playing the Brewers right now as the Braves, so we both have good pitching staffs, but I have struck out 32 times in 3 games and they have struck out around 27-30 times in those three games. I know we both have good pitchers, but we also have solid lineups.

It seems like we(me and the CPU) either get a hit or strike out.

I know what you mean. I am 88 games into my franchise and some series I have played were like that. I would play another series or 2 and see if this changes. Everyone's skill set is different so its hard to give any slider tips.

          Re: Having hitting troubles

What sliders are you using? And are you using classic or total control hitting?

If you use classic, there's a really delicate balance with regard to contact and power. If you don't want to go with higher hit totals, the thing I'd say would maybe be to work on picking up the breaking ball and learning to sit back on it or just take it.

When I strike out most it's usually because I don't take enough pitches. I try to force myself to take until I get strike 1, and then I don't swing if it's not straight and up in the zone until I get strike 2. Then, I look low and I look outside and look *not* to swing for two straight pitches, as those will likely be garbage. I'll go into foul off mode at that point.

I find generally that if the CPU has the strike zone tendency at 40, which is where Joe and MK have theirs at, the CPU will generally not come straight at you unless it has to or unless it decides to break a dominant pattern for a few at-bats. Just knowing that and keeping it at the front of your brain helps.

Also, the CPU will pitch around your big bats, and it will pitch around hot hitters, so make extra sure to take pitches with those guys to get yourself into hitter's counts.

          Hope some of that helps!

I'm using my sliders that I made, but they are very similar to mkharsh's. I'll play a few more games to get to 10 total and then post my stats over the course of those 10 games. I'm getting fun competitive games, just some wacky stats.

              Try this

              Classic hitting

              HUM Contact 35
              HUM Power 55

              CPU Contact 45
              CPU Power 75
              CPU Pitch Success 55

Work the counts and time things right, U wont strike out much at all with these and u will still see similar amounts of realism.........I actually have CPU Contact now at 50 because the K's........but try those top ones and you will do good

I've been playing some more and am not striking out as much, nor is the CPU. That Brewers series was just something out of the blue. But I have noticed I am getting a lot of doubles. I know the Braves had the most doubles IRL last year, but I feel I might be getting to many. The thing is my doubles are from hits right down the line or hard hit balls in the gap. I don't want to raise OF speed or throw speed because they seem pretty realistic to me, but most of my hits are doubles.

Am I just having luck with my hits going into perfect spots, or is this a problem with the game and I should raise the OF speed to account for it?

Man, that Brewers staff is murder. I'm facing them right now in the NLCS and they're killing me. Grienke is a master, but it doesn't get much easier after that. I'm in the middle of a game vs. Randy Wolf now and he's painting like Michelangelo with that damn 68 MPH curve and an 83 MPH change--I mean in places where you just can't touch it if you want to.

No shame in your game if you K lots vs them.

Yea, even though none of them pack any high speed stuff, their placement is nasty along with their off speed stuff.

After I lost the series to them and they won the WS, I checked the season team stats and they were tops in the league in ERA.
