well slap me around and call me Susan. bah, if i would have seen this i wouldn't have bothered with 2k13. grr! LOL

that was the main reason why i ended up justifying picking it up via trading some old crap in.

Alright OS, I'm getting close to releasing a set for 13. Once I release it don't freak out. The testing has been getting me some nice results.

I will post an explanation once I release the set. Just know this the set is based on the importance of using the Inside Edge feature.

Re: BIGFNJOE96 Present MLB 2K12 "A Mid Summer Classic"

Looking forward to it. I had a couple of great games. I upped CPU contact to 50, which did reduce the number of K's I was pulling up, but it didn't lead to more hits.

I gave up just 5 hits versus the Yankees using Westbrook. And he carried a no-no though 5 innings, giving up 3 walks in the process. But the Yankees unloaded for three hits (and a fourth walk) and three runs in the 6th, cutting Cards lead to 4-3.

But the bullpen locked it down for a 5-3 win. Offensively, I'm pretty happy, but there still seems to be a lack of home runs. I'm skittish about boosting power, because I did hit six doubles. I may have to combine a higher power rating with a lower contact rating. But maybe I need to look at pitching sliders.

Regardless, I'm looking forward to what you came up with.

Had a great game in Boston, beat the Yankees 5-3, seven hits a piece, including doubles and triples, but no homers. I even upped power slider by 10. Currently playing in San Fran as the dodgers and upped the power 5 more for each side, I'm in the third, scoreless and hitless.

The higher the contact and/orpower setting for the CPU, the more you have to really focus in on the Inside Edge report. I'm currently using 80/65 for CPU hitting settings and have had a wide variety of results. Higher settings make the batter/pitcher battles much more intense!

              Good luck!

Great discussion going on. Here are the changes I made so you guys can test them out.

Raise Power to 100 for both. Remember this effects how hard balls are hit, not really how far. Trust me every power swing doesn't result in a HR

Bump AI Pitch Success to 80.

                Bump Pitch Speed to 80

Raise AI Pitch Break Influence to 65

Drop User Pitch Control to 25

Change both IF Speed Sliders to 10/OF Speed Sliders to 25.

I haven't touched the Contact Sliders because everyone plays this game differently.

Last thing. Turn OFF the Strike Zone & use the Inside Edge Stats via the directional pad and enjoy

I upped my CPU power setting to 75 last night to up the pitcher/batter intensity. Freaking Trout greeted Kershaw with an opposite field shot just inside the foul pole and barely over the fence.

Something else I noticed over the course of the last couple of days is that it seems like the the higher the throwing speed, the more often you see those twitchy animations from the fielders.

I am playing with OF and IF speed at 5 and with throw power higher than 50 for both I was seeing those annoying animations that were anything but smooth. I started by lowering base running and throwing speeds to 30 and worked up to either 35 or 40 from there. The game looks much better. Maybe a few people can give it a shot...

This is a nice theory.. I will test the OF/IF Throw Speeds with Lower Base Runner speeds. Right now I have the Base Runner Speed @ 45. I will say this, with Power @ 100, OF Speed @ 5 may need bumping on your part, unless your planning to keep Power where it's at right now

Right now I have the CPU power at 80 and I'm still testing it out. So far so good, but you're right about the OF speed. If you change one slider, more than likely you'll have to change a number of others.

The only ones that you can change without them effecting others are probably the USER preference sliders of Pitch Meter Speed, Contact, Pitch Speed and Pitcher Control. BTW, I don't think pitch speed has an effect on how hard balls are hit this year. In previous editions of the game they did.

Also, with regards to the throwing speeds, the Catcher Arm strength needs to be looked at. Still trying to figure that out.

But if I turn off the strikezone then i can't use the hitters eye (text thing). Why didn't they separate the two.

I have cpu contact AND power at 85... Really makes for some GREAT battles... Also, for what it's worth, I like IF speed at 5 and OF speed at 25. I also have user batting power at 55 - I feel like I'm hitting too many HR's with that, so your idea of 100 really scares me.

MK, are using directional hitting(LS)? I noticed that you moved to Total Control Batting.

I messed around with Classic batting last night and using the LS. Kind of reminded me of the MVP Baseball 04/05 days of trying to guess the pitch and go with it. If you think about it, this is exactly how a good hitter has to approach the plate. Know the pitcher and his tendencies, work the count, hit the ball where it is pitched. So using the LS does work as intended, but I've become so used to Total Control Batting and getting decent results that I just got away from Classic hitting. I think mainly because I like to control the swing type.

I don't use the Left Stick, only the right swing stick. I'm not that talented...

I have already hit a LOT of HR's by using the regular swing, not the "power swing" with the right stick, so that was very encouraging. It's largely about timing, pitch type, pitch location, and player attribute. I no longer use classic simply because it became way too easy for me... I like your ideas here, which is what I appreciate about each slider creator! Thnx!

They did separate them. Go into Presentation Settings and set Strike zone Window to Batter. the choices are on, off, or batter. The only thing you can do is turn it on for the pitcher, but not batter.

I don't think BFNJ uses the test, and has Batter's eye set to zero. I keep it at 25, so I want it on.

Turning the pitching strike zone window off does lead to more balls, and I've upped my personal Pitch Accuracy to 25 from 10. I've also gone back to pinpoint aim. The worst thing 2K does let us take off are those arrows on the cursor when we use breakpoint aim. It pretty much defeats the purpose. But with the accuracy turned down enough, even using pin point aim does not result in pinpoint accuracy.

Turning off the strike zone while pitching also eliminates the red and blue zones. So it becomes vital to use the D-Pad to bring up IE info.

If going into detail for each batter is more than one wants to do, I'd suggest leaving catcher suggestions on, but leaving them off does eliminate the one clue to where the zone is. Like last year, the AI does a good job of mixing up pitches, location, and setting up hitters to attack their weaknesses.

One thing that going without a strike zone makes me reconsider is the camera for pitching. I normally go with default, as each stadium has it's own based on its broadcast camera location. But I wonder if taking a more straight on view wil be better, or if that will make pitching too easy.
