Slider tweaks for improved batting results

    1. Lower the AI Skill slider, and conversly raise AI Contact. AI Skill appears to act like a CPU hit cheat, so when it's lowered there's more hit variety and less seeing-eye grounders and auto-gappers. The lower you raise it though, the higher you'll have to raise AI Contact to compensate. The benefit here is that with AI Contact up, the CPU makes more solid contact, so there's far less dribblers and more hard-hit groundballs. Again, the more you lower AI Skill, the more hit variety you'll see. I'm experimenting with it @ 10 right now and the hit variety is really noticable, although with the slider that low some other problems start popping up (more strikeouts).

My suggestion: AI Skill @ 40-60 and AI Contact @ 80-90 (and AI Power @ 40-50).

    2. Lower the AI Corner and AI Change Location sliders. The AI Corner slider in particular seems in part responsible for the dribblers -- the dribblers supposedly represent those "end of the bat" hits that you and me would be producing if we were in the Show :-) Anyway, every time I move those sliders down, the dribblers more or less disappear. When I bump them up, the dribblers start comig back -- though they're not as frequent or weak due to the raised AI Contact slider. If they're set at a decent level, they still produce the occasional soft grounder, the type that actually looks like a wealkly hit ball -- one or two hops to the 3B or 1B guy.

My suggestion: AI Corner and AI Change Location @ 25.

i was just about to try that today. i am finding out the same things you are. i think we are on to something.

i was following the 100 level some guys are using. but i was going to start dropping that today. i was going to start -10 at a time.

the pitchers make too many pitches that are too hard to tell if they are balls so i swing at too many on the edge of the plate.

That's one of the benefits of lowering AI Corner -- easier to tell balls from strikes. I just didn't want to mention it because it makes me look like the chicken whiffer that I am :-)

I have been experimenting also with this theory. I have played about 10 games, with AI Skill @ 60 & AI Contact @ 75 this seems to be good. I have AI Power @ 50. The scores have varied. The hits also have varied.

Are you guys seeing more HRs with Ai power at 50, I am. I've recently lowered the CPU power to 35 and human to 40. There still seem to be to many HRs usually about 5 every game between the CPU and myself. I've taken your advice Baa on AI contact and skill but the dribblers seem to have been replaced with the "soft linedrive".
IMO there seems to be a physics problem with the ball reaction off of the bat.

Nice to have the slider guy checking my slider stuff out :-) Joe, I just played a 12 inning game -- the CPU won it 1-0 on a squeeze -- with AI Skill @ 0 and AI Contact @ 100 (Power @ 40). I've got User sliders @ 30 Contact and 40 Power, by the way. The CPU batted .238 with 9 strikeouts. I batted .111 with 10 strikeouts. Probably more than two-thirds of the balls in play were grounders, and no seeing-eye hits in sight.

Now that to me is sim BASEBALL ;-)

truckie, what I'm seeing with AI Skill down like that is that Power needs to go back up a bit. I lowered it to 40 when AI Skilll was up because I was seeing too many HR's as well. But now that it's way down, it looks like 40 Power is too low. I'll try 45 next, and might even have to raise it to 50 from what I can tell.

like joe, i have power at 50 and i am not giving up a lot of HRs. in fact, i had two games in a row where i did not give up a homer or hit one.

i am loving the k-zone more and more. in fact, with these sliders i am starting to think the cpu hitting is almost done. i need to find workable human hitting sliders more now.

truckie, which teams are you playing? against the yankees i really have to move the ball around because every guy can jack it. but against baltimore, without sammy, i just challenged everyone to hit it out.
