Just started the playoffs after playing every game in the 162 game season with the Yankees with fantasy draft rosters. Not one MLB game simmed or managed. So it's my first game against the fantasy drafted Tigers. Pitching Match-up is Halladay for the Yankees and Maddox for the Tigers.
So first inningbeggins and Halladay gives up 2 singles putting runners on 1st and 3. Giambi comes up and smashes a 2 RBI double. No big deal, I have the best hitting team in the MLB.
After going down 1,2,3 the Tigers come up again. David Bell somehow smashes a solo HR to make it 3-0 Tigers.
Then fast foward to the top of the 8th inning. Halladay calmed down so I left him in. Then Edmonds comes up and smashes another HR making it 4-0. Had to bring in Jeff Nelson at that point and he quickly ends the inning.
So now it's the bottom of the 8th and Maddox is still in pitching a 3 hitter. My 9 hitter Jose Molina is up. Walks. Chone comes up and walks. So now I have A-Rod up with two on none out. Hits a shallow fly and Jeff Kent is going out to get it. Easy play...but then it pops out of his glove. For some reason he throw to 3rd not second and Molina just beats it out. The take out Maddox for a lefty. So now it's bases loaded, no one out and my best hitter Vlad at the plate. Works the count to 3-2. Strikes out swinging on a high fast ball. So now Pujos comes up to the plate. Works the count to 2-2. High fast ball. Jam the stick up and swing. Hits a bomb to dead center for the grand slam to tie the game. The pitcher quickly ends the inning and Nelson too in the top of 9.
So now bottom of the 9th. Juan Rivera up. Sees a hanging curve and jacks it out into the visiting bullpen 400 feet away. Walk off to win it. There was like a little animation I've never seen before, probably a playoff thing. Pretty cool though.
