    Left-handed batters and HR

I'm 14 games into my Red Sox season and have 17 HR as a team (numbers slightly skewed by two 3-HR games). That's not the interesting stat though, the interesting stat is that NONE have come from the left hand side of the plate. Does anyone else have any problems when it comes to hitting home runs from the left side? It's not a problem with hitting, as Ortiz and Nixon are both posting good averages with a good amount of doubles (Ortiz, actually, has 9 so far). I just cant hit homers and it's really starting to puzzle me.

It was an issue in a prior release (MVP 2004?), but no issues I've noticed with 2005.

I seem to recall that the 2004 version of the game had a bug that made it impossible for Lefties to hit homers. If you have the 2005 version then you should be fine though - they will come!

I am playing with 2005, guess I'm just frustrated is all. Alex Gonzalez (1) has more HR than Ortiz and Nixon combined (0)!!

Hold up, look for a pitch in, when it comes, a quick tilt to the right, and bam!

If it's down the middle, just keep it pressed up and you should still be able to hit it out.

If it's outside, let it go unless you have two strikes.

On zero or one strike counts, definitely look for a pitch in, or a mistake down the middle.

Patience! Even though you're on offense, hitting is defensive: you're defending the strike zone.

Go figure. The first game I play after posting this thread, I hit 3 HR, all from lefties.

It can streaky. I had Aubrey Huff (L) my first year and he hit 38 for me. In year 2 after 25 games he had 3. Well, at All-Star break he is hitting .355 with 17 dingers and 62 RBI's. He hits his HR's in bunches. One week he hits 6 HR's then 5-6 games no homers but he is still hitting singles and doubles. I like this as it portrays a more real to life batting. Also, it seems certain pitchers Aubrey will feast on. Others he whiffs a lot.

I'm in the exact opposite in this game, I cannot hit homers with righties to save my life. I just finished up a post season with the Yanks and played 16 games (11-5) and Matsui had 9 homers, Giambi had 6, A-Rod had 2 and Sheff and zero.

I just can't time anything with my righties, I'm always late on pitches and pop 'em up for some reason. And I've played alot of MVP, I just suck I guess.

You should set the user contact to 50 as well. I bet you could bunt a home run. =0)

I can hit alot of homeruns with lefties, but not i can't hit any with Righties.
In Fact after 33 games, i've hit 29 homeruns while 28 have been lefties.
The one right handed homerun i hit was at the Polo Grounds.

Well I hit really well with righties but I cant hit HR's with lefties. After reading this topic I just played a game against the D-Backs in my dynasty and Dunn hit two out and Winn hit one out and almost another one straight to center field. Just tilt the stick up and wait for a pitch up or down in the zone and jack it out of the park.
