So I decided to get MVP 2005 for the PS2

That was the last MLB version right? I have decided I wanted to get back into baseball games but the only option on the 360 isn't too tempting. So I decided to go back to what I knew.

That being said, who are some of the gems int his game? IIRC, Zach Greinke had a killer curveball.

Joey Gathright is a beast, and in a couple years Crawford will become one of the best players in the league.

pitch recognition in this game is by far the best of any game i've ever played. however, the graphics and player models leave much to be desired. that's why i can't play more than a game or two and then i go back to mlb 2k7. having said that, how do you guys deal with its flaws? not the graphics but things like the fielding animations and such...what keeps the game fresh for those that play it on the ps2? any tweaks or sliders that you suggest to update it?

I switched to broadcast view on fielding this year and you get a whole new look. It makes fielding more challenging.

I still can't find the right sliders to make the homerun count realistic. I hit and give up too many dingers.

I started messing around with contact at -50 for me and the cpu on MVP level. And I see much more realistic distances for homeruns and amount of homeruns. Gone are the days of david eckstein hitting balls to the moon. -50 might be a little to much for the cpu, but I'm not sure yet. For some reason contact has a huge effect on power in this game and I dont really see that big of a difference in strikeouts with it at -50.

How has it affected overall hitting ? Do you see a realistic amount of doubles ?

To me the only real big difference it made was the distance that balls were being hit, so you dont see as many homeruns, and you dont see balls almost leaving the entire stadium. I still see what I consider to be a realistic amount of doubles. Check out my sliders in the new for 2007 thread.
