What do you look for when buying a simulation baseball video game?

    is it:
realism (little things), graphics, ergonomic controls, animations, realistic stat sheet @ the end of the game, signature player movements, brand loyalty, online play, etc...

I know all these things are important, but which ones are THE most important.

I am trying to find out what makes baseball games sell. Don't say "just because i want a baseball game". there were many other factors that ran through your mind before you bought this baseball game or any other for that matter.

oh, just in case you guys are wondering, i chose the simulation baseball video game industry for a marketing project i am doing. I myself come to these forums almost every day (more of a browser than poster), and have yet to find any site out there more dedicated to the industry i have chosen. Thanks for sharing with me!

I'd say the overall atmosphere and the little things that make it realistic. Graphics are semi important only because it effects how real the game feels. In baseball, the pitcher versus batter aspect is very important. Without that, the game is trash.

I enjoy the realistic stat sheet at the end of the game. Earl Weaver 1.5 was was ahead of it's time for this. Not to mention the GM add-on program that actually adjusted lineups with intelligence.

The Tony Larussa series for the pc was even better. I liked how players would get elected to the hall of fame a few years after they retired.
