So I decided to call Xbox. I talked to Max and said what I wanted about four times before he understood me and when he finally understood me he put me on hold. I then spent the next fifteen minutes listening to crappy techno music derived mainly from the Halo theme. When my call was finally answered, a man with an Indian accent so thick I wasn't sure if I was on the phone with a real person or a Simpsons' character, slowly but surely talked to me about my problem.
I basically said what has been said everywhere else on the internet; the game doesn't work, I did download that, I just did what you said and it still isn't working, etc. So I told him the source code that I got when it says the game isn't compatible and he told me that it didn't look as if it was my fault or my console's. Gee really? Thanks! I even told him about everthing going on online. How no one can get this game to work, no one. And how even the people on Xbox's forum were complaining.
He then proceeded to tell me that it may be the disk's problem. That couldn't be it, I told him. When I picked it up from Gamestop no more than 40 minutes earlier the disk was pristine. It actually didn't look like anyone had ever played it. He finally gave in and gave me the conversation's reference number. And I was put on hold to talk to his manager.
A good 30 minutes later, someone finally answered. I gave him my basic info and told him the same thing I told the guy earlier. I told him how I was really looking forward to this game and rather upset that I couldn't get it to work.
He then told me that it may be a problem with my system update and I should try downloading it off the Xbox website and onto a disk. That really upset me. I explained that I had never had a problem downloading anything and how that couldn't be the problem. He assured me that that should fix it and to call back if it didn't. And if I call back again, he said they may have to release a patch.
Ok so I run only on Mac OS. So I was worried that I couldn't download it. It actually let me but so far has done nothing for me.
I think if we can get enough people to call 1-800-MY-XBOX and complain about this very problem we'll get what we need.
I came out rather happy, but I was upset that the guy didn't do anything for me, even with my complaints and arguments that countered his suggestions. If you all love this game as much as you say you do or as much as I do, I think waiting on hold for a while could be worth it.
BTW if anyone wants me to I'll post my reference number that I got so maybe some of you can use it.
Thanks,
Christian
