Re: Can we help make MVP 2012 happen?
Actually EA had it right the first time with Earl Weaver baseball (fully customizable stadiums to boot).
MVP would be quite a ways behind the other games. I don;t think they could just up and produce a game better than 2K. They'd need to add quite a bit of stuff that has become common in games since 2005 ... the least of which is analog controls. Flawless online play, etc is pretty much a requirement.
In order to put out a great 2013 product, they'd likely need to get started now. They would essentially be making a product for 360 only ... since The Show has the PS3 market cornered and would continue unless MVP came out with something better than RTTS.
MVP05 is not better than The Show. It is better than 2K7/8/9, but maybe not 2K11.GATEWAY TO GREATNESS: 2010 CARDINALS FRANCHISE

After years and years of horrible attempts. After 4 years of the travesty that was "Triple Play", EA renamed the franchise and started over. After another 4-5 years they arrived at MVP05, which was (and is) flat-out awesome.

MVP had analog fielding (base sliding, diving and jumping, and/or fielding animations) why would they have a hard time making analog throwing? Plus their animations were very smooth for the time. Online play is not perfect in either baseball game from what I gather, so if MVP made a flawless online experience it would be all the better.
The meter throwing was as good as it gets and I wish other companies could do it as good as mvp. Yes they do need to do a lot to catch up in terms of graphics and little things but they had a very good concept of how baseball should feel and gave the user a nice sense of control.
I hope they can get back into it soon though, if it had kept excelling who knows where it would have been by now.Comment

Re: Can we help make MVP 2012 happen?
You cant play mvp 05 on 360.
If EA did bring their baseball series back they are years behind the competition.
Apart from the fact that 2K has a lot of the classic MVP animations.
When Ben Brinkman signed on to 2K he brought a lot of MVP into the series,
you can see it in the animations, cut scenes.
2K7 is what next gen baseball shouldve looked like.
I think if EA does bring it back, we wont see a good title, if theyre committed to putting out a quality game like they used to, until about 2015.
Who knows! They might have one in the works.
I just hope its not exclusive or im screwed! We play today, we win today, das it!-

Re: Can we help make MVP 2012 happen?
While EA can't make a basketball game worth playing they did a great job with baseball. While they could probably easily beat out 2k's version they would probably still suffer in sales because of The Show. The SCEA guys understand the game of baseball and thats why it is so realistic while I am not sure 2k guys are as big of baseball fans. Although EA has been known to go from good to crap in a matter of a year before so I would not bet the farm on them developing anything great.Comment

Re: Can we help make MVP 2012 happen?
Yeah, EA has really went down hill lately when it comes to sports. I mean when it comes to the 3 main sports , Football, basketball and not making baseball. I highly doubt EA would be competent enough to be anywhere near SCEA in making baseball but they probably could be as good as 2k. I have always said when EA made that deal with 2k on not making baseball and them not making football, EA should have said we win't make basketball if you don'tmake baseball, since EA has no clue what basketball consist of,lol.Comment

Re: Can we help make MVP 2012 happen?
There were a lot of things I liked about the last couple of years of Mvp, graphics, fielding, but I could never hit enough to make the game interesting. I would love to see the game come back just to have more choices. My buddy and I would always take the first sat after the baseball games come out and rent all of them and blow the whole day testing them out. Down with exclusive licenses!Comment

Re: Can we help make MVP 2012 happen?
Can we honestly stop putting The Show on a pedistal? Yes, it is the best console baseball game available, no argument here (I say console because I like Out of the Park baseball for the PC, its a baseball sim). However, compared to MVP 05 and earlier versions of baseball video games, it pales in comparison.
As far as The Show goes, it fails in gameplay and features compared to MVP 05. In The Show, there is no arguing calls, charging the mound when you get hit, slides are sometimes done for you, etc. Things like breaking up a double play in MVP 05 look better and seem more realistic than in The Show. In MVP 05, if I don't tell the runner to slide, he doesn't slide, and if I do, he slides exactly where and how I told him to. Try stealing a base on Road to The Show and you have to hit the analog up about 5 times to ensure he slides. Okay, I know, enought about sliding. It is just that things like this become pretty annoying. One other thing I liked in MVP 05 is the "hitter's eye", I believe this is a much more effect and realistic tool to use for pitch recognition than a "Guess Pitch" is.
Also, I remember games like the All Star Baseball series who had co-op gameplay back in 2003! Why is it that The Show has just decided to impliment it? Not only that, they screwed it up, why allow co-op gameplay for exhibition games only? That makes no sense, users are going to want to play meaningful games together. So, include a co-op franchise or owner's mode like All Star Baseball did. Not only that, All Star Baseball let you start a new team, and did it the correct way, by using an expansion draft! Why is this a lost concept on game developers now? What they do now is let you create a team, but you have to clone current players from other teams on to yours. Not only that, you can't place the team into a franchise like All Star Baseball allowed.
The Show is the best game available right now, but I'd play a graphically updated MVP 05 any day over the show. Heck, I play MVP 05 still, and I own the latest version of The Show.Comment

Re: Can we help make MVP 2012 happen?
You can not argue calls, charge mound, etc because the MLB does not allow them to do that anymore!
Anywho....
I used to be a huge MVP nut, but it has been surpassed in many more ways, than ones nostalgically hold onto. But again, all just our opinions.
By the way... ASB did NOT launch with co-op mode, it came late in the game's series. As in, when you build a new engine, etc for new hardware at the time, you need to get core fundamentals of it down first and foremost, then add those types of features later on...
Thus why "The Show is finally doing it now", "why doesnt it have open and closed roofs", etc etc... well those very games did not have them until the 4th or 5th revision EITHER. So things take time, coding is more complex as the more realistic the graphics get on more advanced hardware, etc. Thus why in a similar "time-frame" of a short 10 month tops development cycle... you see the things appearing like the past.
How soon people forget these things. They think the added featured last game in the series was the first version on the console's life span.

Re: Can we help make MVP 2012 happen?
Has it actually been said that MLB doesn't allow charging the mound or arguing calls anymore? Meaning, Major League Baseball actually came out and said this? If so, this honestly doesn't suprise me, but it's still rediculous. Arguing calls and charging the mound are part of baseball, therefore, in order to create a true baseball experience, they should be allowed in the game. Just another reason on why MLB doesn't know how to run their league. An example of this doesn't come from the video game world, but do you know that MLB didn't let the Mets wear NYPD and FDNY hats during their game on 9/11 for the 10th anniversary? There is no reason fo this. Not only did they not allow it, they actually confiscated the hats that players were going to wear anyway. MLB is so off touch with its community its unbelievable.Comment

Bench clearing brawls, manager arguments, player arguments, it's baseball. You don't see NHL not allowing EA to put fighting in their game do you?Comment
