NHL and MLB are two different leagues.

I talked to one of the game producers personally... guess what, MLB says no.

That is why 2K no longer has them either.

And personally, they are gimmicks that are not missed IMO.

Do you think baseball video games are launching. Actually I don't have any idea about that. But I am looking for some car racing type games.

If it was done correctly in hockey, i.e., the purpose for fighting in the first place, maybe it would be essential, but I don't miss it. In a baseball GAME, it's nonsense.

Personally, I'd like to see more randomness, balls dropped by the catcher, a base stealer leaning and getting caught, a bit more collision by the fielders (doesn't have to be violent, full impact).

I know this is an old post, but this is not correct.
The exclusive licensing deal between MLB & T2 in 2005 prohibited EA Sports from publishing another MLB game until 2012.

In 2012, EA will be allowed to publish a new game. And its only because of EAs exclusive licensing with NFL & Madden that T2 got the exclusive with MLB

I suspect they have been working on a new game for quite some time now.

If you like random then The Show is your game, that's all that game is!

I understand.....but that's not my point. For example, I would like a football game where you have the cpu kick extra points for you and a random code based on percentages of the kicker would have him miss an extra point somewhere along the way, if it's in the cards. I would rather have that than be able to kick 20,000/20,000 extra points.

Yes, it is the best console baseball game available, no argument here (I say console because I like Out of the Park baseball for the PC, its a baseball sim). However, compared to MVP 05 and earlier versions of baseball video games, it pales in comparison.

As far as The Show goes, it fails in gameplay and features compared to MVP 05. In The Show, there is no arguing calls, charging the mound when you get hit, slides are sometimes done for you, etc. Things like breaking up a double play in MVP 05 look better and seem more realistic than in The Show. In MVP 05, if I don't tell the runner to slide, he doesn't slide, and if I do, he slides exactly where and how I told him to. Try stealing a base on Road to The Show and you have to hit the analog up about 5 times to ensure he slides. Okay, I know, enought about sliding. It is just that things like this become pretty annoying. One other thing I liked in MVP 05 is the "hitter's eye", I believe this is a much more effect and realistic tool to use for pitch recognition than a "Guess Pitch" is.

Also, I remember games like the All Star Baseball series who had co-op gameplay back in 2003! Why is it that The Show has just decided to impliment it? Not only that, they screwed it up, why allow co-op gameplay for exhibition games only? That makes no sense, users are going to want to play meaningful games together. So, include a co-op franchise or owner's mode like All Star Baseball did. Not only that, All Star Baseball let you start a new team, and did it the correct way, by using an expansion draft! Why is this a lost concept on game developers now? What they do now is let you create a team, but you have to clone current players from other teams on to yours. Not only that, you can't place the team into a franchise like All Star Baseball allowed.

The Show is the best game available right now, but I'd play a graphically updated MVP 05 any day over the show. Heck, I play MVP 05 still, and I own the latest version of The Show.
Thank you. The Show is good, but it is stale and I found myself barely even playing the game this year.

Also, one thing that is often overlooked is just how long and therefore even boring The Show can get. You could get a game of MVP '05 done in no time without sacrificing realism. The Show can at times just drag and drag.
