Xbox vs. PS2, I currently have both

Alas, my Xbox version is plauged with the dirty disc error. So I have two choices: Buy another Xbox or get the PS2 version. I work occassionally at Gamestop, so I used my game checkout privilege to see how well the PS2 version played before I made a decision.

The PS2 version is much more grainy and suffers from a slightly lower framerate, but it is playable. The Xbox definitely looks better, but it's not as bright. The antialiasing technique to smooth things out puts a slight haze on everything, thus making the xbox version less vibrant.

Overall I prefer the xbox version, but I hate to fork out more money. However, my Xbox may soon crater, so I'm thinking I should trade it in for $80 towards a new Xbox. But darn it, I have a ton of games saved on the harddrive and I don't want to lose all those saves.

I think I will play MVP on my current Xbox and see if the dirty disc error becomes so rampant that I can't play it. Interestingly, I have never gotten the error in the middle of a game, it's always been when a game was loading or when I was adjusting rosters. This I can live with. What I'm afraid of is getting 100 games into a season and having to start over because the problem has gotten worse.

    Any thoughts, similar circumstances, advice?

Get an action replay (if you don't have one already) and trasfer all your saves from your Xbox to your PC. Then you can get a new one. I'm not entirely sure, I think you can do that with AR.
