OK, so I've played 2 months of 3 different franchises on the PS2 with three different slider sets.
Playing as the Reds and playing ALL games at all levels. I've used GForces Rosters on all 3 levels and I have some observations. I'm looking for some validations or opinions.
In Pro, I used a variation of Chi Town Kids pro sliders from the slider thread. After going 5-0 at all 3 levels, I switched to Jetta's Pro Sliders that I got from GameFAQ's. I posted them earlier.
At All-Star, I used the Sliders I got from BBSC, which are a modified version of Pared's.
At MVP I used Cowboype2000's. I first saw them at GameFAQ's but he recently posted them in the slider thread.
First off, On All-Star, it seems to me that the Lefty topspin issue is much more prevelant, and very problematic. I've had pitches where I made solid contact, that should have been a liner into the gap, but the spin caused the ball to visibily dive down so the 2nd baseman could jump and catch it. On All-Star it almost seems the CPU knows too soon what your trying to do at the plate. My pitching at All-Star is solid with a team ERA of 3.68
Pro I find too easy, even with great sliders. I can win frequently, and easily. 1 hitting the CPU with regularity. Even with their contact set to 50. To make pitching harder at pro I switched to the Broadcast type camera, and pitching became more challenging, and the games were better. Almost no topspin issues. As Homers by lefties happen for me, and against me, with about the same frequency.
Now for the kicker.... MVP.
MVP level seems to be the best level. I see less topspin issues than All-Star. It's more along the lines of Pro. Pitching is much more challenging, and control is much more unstable for both the CPU and User. In MVP, you really have to work the count, and I can draw walks. Hitting is not much different that the other levels. I'm not too convinced that the Hitting sliders do much. Maybe the contact slider increases your contact with the ball, but the contact turns into fouls or dribblers. The CPU WILL recognize patterns, and will crush you when you fall into them. I also have to manage my BP, and Subs much better, as on MVP the CPU takes advantage of mistakes in a hurry!
Overall, MVP has been a much more fun game, and I wanted to see if you guys would either validate what I'm seeing, or have I just spent too many late nights in front of the Playstation. Insomnia, a blessing, and a curse!
