    Re: Baserunning flaw

Im playing on the Xbox and I still have this problem. I thought it was just me cause I never read a thing about this on this forum and this to me would seem to be a bigger problem than any lefhanded power problem. I basically have to run all my runners on every play. Ive never seen any game with this problem and Ive been playing baseball games since the Intellivision. It dont happen all the time but it happens enough where I have to worry about it every inning.......

One thing I've noticed is when I have more than one runner on, if I tahe the spotlight off of the lead runner it doesnt happen so I was starting to thing maybe Im hitting a button by accident on my swing but I cant seem to figure this out. I still really love the game but this is killing me. If it's the Xbox Im taking this back again and getting a ps2. Im an EA guy and if these games are just bot ported over correctly I might as well not own an Xbox...........

I play MVP for PS2, so don't go trading games or consoles. The baserunning glitch was a major problem in 2003, and still lingers. I posted a thread a while back about it, and a few wrote in saying they saw the same thing.

Here's a good example that should clear up confusion, something that just happened last night.

With a runner on first and one out, I have a 2-1 count. Perfect hit-and-run situation. So that's exactly what I do. I send the runner and slap a grounder towards the hole between first and second. After the ball's been hit, and the runner is about 30 feet from second base, he stops, TURNS AROUND, and heads BACK TO FIRST. I pound the L1 button and he eventually reverses his field and heads back toward second. But the opposing 2B has gathered in the grounder, and now has ample time to turn and throw to the SS covering the second base bag, who tosses on to first to complete the DP. I did NOTHING WRONG there, and in fact in real life would have avoided the DP, but this horrid glitch has screwed me once again.

P.S. The running aggressiveness slider for the User is at +30. I SENT the runner from first before the ball was pitched. What more can I do???

I have NEVER seen this. It must have something to do with your sliders because I've been doubled up more on linedrives from hit and runs than I've had successful ones. But I've never had a guy go back to the base once I've sent him unless I tell him to go back. Especially since it's a force play. The only time I've had anything remotely like this problem is when the runner is on second and I hit a grounder towards the base (trying to get the ball to go behind the runner)

I must continue then to get a bad version of this game. How is this not a big deal with this game. I cannot play it. I have a man on second nobody out and I smash a double up the alley and send my lead runner toward home then my batter for some unknown reason stops at first so I go to send him to second and low and behold my lead runner stops and must want to meet his teamate at second for some reason LOL. Then later in the game man on first nobody out, I want to sac bunt with my pitcher, I lay down a beauty but my runner a. t first decides to just stand there crouched over LOL. This is every game guys. I dont know what you guys are seeing and no Im not acciddently hitting some button like I initially thought. Im about to close the book on MVP 04.

You must not know how to play the damn game then. Choose your runner before you press buttons! If you press up(go to second) if your lead runner is still selected he is gonna turn around.

the only time I've seen something like this on the xbox is when my runner is on first and i hit the ball to shallow right and I want my runner on first to head to third I press the button B to make him go to third only somewhere the letters for the runners change. The batter now becomes B button and the runner on first is now Y button. When a ball is hit now I don't press anything until my runner crosses a bag so I don't get confused.

I don't think that's a glitch just you getting being a little impatient. With the run aggression so high you shouldn't have to press any buttons but if you are then maybe you should lower it to -25 and do the base running youself.
