Ok Im Going to Restart my Braves Owner Mode

After recently screwing up (10 Million in the hole,lol).....Im going to restart. Now I have a problem after reading the last few pages of the Owner Mode tips. My first Owner mode was horrible. I got rid of the Braves whole starting roster for young, cheap players (who mostly sucked) because EVERYONE on the Braves seem to have a high payroll. Here are what my players make:


Andruw Jones- 10.5 Million
Chipper Jones- around 8.5 Million
Mike Hampton 15.00 Million!!! (I know, hes the first I get rid of)
John Smoltz- 15 Million (second I get rid of)
Tim Hudson- 11.00 Million
Rafeal Furcal- 5 Million
Marcus Giles- 3 Million
Danny Kolb- 2 Million


Now is it possible to keep a few of these players and still be successful in Owner Mode? Like I wanna keep Hudsun, Giles, Andruw and Furcal......can I still be successful in Owners mode? BTW instead of going through all the pages, has it been proven that its good to start out buying Level 2 seating?

I don't think it's a good idea to buy level 2 right away, but others do, and they've done very well. For me, it was better to sellout my level one seats on the way to the postseason, and then buy level 2 seats during the stretch run. It's better to use your money to do promotions every night there's a game with an influence of lower than 4. As far as your players, it depends on how your farm system supports you. If you have a good outfielder in triple A (good, not 30's for both power and contact), then you can trim someone like Jones. If you don't, you have to keep what you need talent wise to get close or into the playoffs, otherwise, the money you save won't help you as much as postseason revenue will. Plus, expanding your stadium in the closing weeks of a good season will help, because your crowds will be huge and buying that many more tickets to fill your level 2 seats.

I don't think it's a good idea to buy level 2 right away, but others do, and they've done very well. Please read the last page of owner's mode tips...There are some good tips from myself and another contributor. I didnt personally buy seating first, I went the concession rout and let my small stadium sell out. Used many promotions and made sure I got into the playoffs or was atleast in contention. If you have very specific questions please PM me or respond here.

B) You can trade for a player of equal attributes, whose salary is wayyyyy cheaper

but the media contract helps you out...I didnt kill my Angels roster except for Tim Salmon...Payroll = 80+ million

I agree...I hate how all these guys talk about oh he has minimal speed yada yada....And Im like the guy is frieking 6'5'' tall runs a 4.5!!! Hes 5'' taller than the average CB in the league!!! Id take him in a heart beat...

I kinda hope he does, yet I kinda don't because the players LOVE him. I hope McCombs sells the team because I think he sucks, msotly because years before this he didn't spend ANYTHING for ANYONE. Plus he pulled the trigger to soon on the Moss deal, probably could have got a 1st, 2nd and 7th round pick for him if it was during the draft.

Has anyone advanced to yr 2 with a losing record and a overall owner rating of D? I have the month of sep to get above .500 and make it respectable. I have a D rating (up from F) just recently because of winning records in aug and start of sep. I have been ignoring my players cries and it has hurt I think. Some just seem rediculous so I just delete them but lately I have been doing what they are asking/more playing time etc... I am just wondering if I will get to keep my ownership with a D rating in case I can't get it raised? I have simmed 3 times thru sep and my shareholders fire me each time!
