    Contact slider observation

Another boring slider thread but I think I picked up on something.

I've been playing this game with CPU contact at 50! As you all know, the CPU doesn't score runs at 50 contact. (PS2). User contact is at -3 and I have no problem making good contact. I better not, I've been playin this game for 2 years.

Anyway, I noticed that my hit variety was varied and especially on poor contact, I see many slow grounders, choppers, ect.

I did not see these hits from the CPU. Every hit was fairly solid even though they were outs. So I lowered CPU contact to zero, thinking the CPU would be pathetic.

Oddly, the CPU scored 3 runs vs me without hitting a HR. I finally saw a bloop single by the CPU. So I'm hedging that the contact slider is more for hit variety than actual contact. Lower contact may see more grounders, softer singles up the middle. Baseball usually has more bad contact than good. So, lowering CPU contact may not hinder the CPU's ability to compete.

I play with contact at 4 and power at 2 for both the user and the computer. Dowie

Have you ever cranked it up? Are you happy with it at 4?

The sad truth is that, I've won 32 games in a row and I'm just killing the CPU. It really is the pitching engine to blame. The CPU gets a decent # of hits but can't seem to get the needed hit to rally.Even on NCAA, the CPU is simply not competative from a hitting standpoint.

I gather most games eventually have this problem so I'm staying with this game. The hitting is still better than the new games IMO. The other games feel like a pinball machine when hitting.

I'd maybe try my sliders (Dowie's). I've played with these sliders for over a year and are still really happy with them. With the user fatigue so high you'll find pitching is alot more of a challenge.

I've been using the same sliders nwo for about a year and have had both human and CPU contact at -50. The two reasons for this were 1) hit variety is better and 2) the CPU wasn't striking out enough. I noticed like you mentioned that the lower that contact slider, the better the hit variety.
