Anyone try raising pitch speed slider?

I don't see many of you here with the same problem I am encountering, but in short time with the game, using Pared's sliders (with user contact and power at 0), I am hitting too many homers and getting too many hits. I am 28-12 through 40 games. At first, I thought it was because the CPU wasn't scoring enough so I lowered the pitch meter difficulty to -40, making it harder to place pitches. So now the CPU can score a few runs per game. However, I realized that the problem was that I was scoring too much.

With this said, I am considering raising the pitch speed slider to +20. I tried it in an exhibition game and indeed, it made hitting much more challenging, but I am afraid that I may start hitting 500+ foot dingers with certain players. Has anyone tried doing this yet? I am skeptical about moving up to MVP level because, after some experimentation, I see that the CPU is basically unstoppable on MVP difficulty. If anyone has tried raising the pitch speed slider, please advise me of your results. Thanx!

Why wouldn't you just lower contact and power? That's what I would do anyways. But no, I've never messed with the pitch speed slider.

Yeah, make sure your contact and power are at the default 0. Especially contact (the biggest impact on scoring). Personally I think raising either value at all is ridiculous and might as well be called cheating, but to each their own.

You have the same problem I do on ALL STAR hitting too many home runs. The only possible way to fix this problem is lower batting contact and power or to edit player attributes. I would try lowing batting contact and batting power first though.

Re: Anyone try raising pitch speed slider?

I put the speed slider on 50. Doesnt really make much of a difference. The pitch speed is only a little quicker and everyone throws a 95 MPH fastball which is unrealistic so I just leave it at 0 for now.

Re: Anyone try raising pitch speed slider?

if you want it as "real" as possible of what a 90mph fastball looks/feels like set it up near 40-50

Reason: in "real" life a 90 mph fastball takes .40 of second from the time it leaves the pitchers hand til it crosses home plate into the catchers mitt.

So, based on that just use a stop watch and time it yourself as you watch a guy throw 90. Start your watch when it leaves his hand and stop it when it is caught. Modify the Speed slider until your watch is right around .40 sec

You will then know what it's like to face a 90mph heater up and in on the chin.

Why don't you try lowering the pitch speed? everyone thinks that raising it is harder but i think there are two factors. First if you just wait on a fast ball you can hit a home run with a high pitch speed. secondly, the offspeed stuff must come in pretty fast as well. i play on -15 and i can hit home runs and still get fooled by the offspeed stuff. the change up low is a killer.
