    Understanding levels and sliders

    I've been trying to understand the different levels and their sliders better in the hopes of being able to tune the game perfectly to my ability level.

    In trying other peoples sliders out it's obvious that for one person's sliders to be suitable for me, my skill level has to be similar to theirs. E.g. I can pitch realistically on Pared's all star sliders but get killed at the plate 'cos I'm clearly not as good as him at hitting.

    In trying to adapt peoples slider suggestions to my own needs I've been reminded of the Venn diagrams I used to do at school, where the circles would overlap when some elements of data from 2 different sets were equal.

    Applying this to MVP baseball, would I be right in thinking that there should be some slider settings suitable to everyone irrespective of ability, such as infielder / outfielder speed & fielder throwing speed & accuracy? After all, all you're doing to throw to the cut-off man is tapping the black button and a noobie can press a button just as effectively as a seasoned veteran.

    What about these settings at the different levels? Do runners run quicker on the harder levels or is say, an 8 user OF speed on pro going to be the same as an 8 user OF speed on all star?

    If this is the case, do different levels become identical at some point after their sliders have been adjusted? E.g. is the pro level tuned to be harder going to be equal in difficulty to all star made easier?

    Re: Understanding levels and sliders

    For me, I am teetering on defualt slider or just turning down outfielder speed. These guys are too fast on mvp level which is what I play on. All-star was way too easy even with slider adjustments.

      I turn down the OF speed for the CPU, but leave mine the same, mostly because I have a hard time adjusting to which way my fielder is headed and need the extra speed to make up for my reaction time.

        Here's a hint: Use Pro!

        Really, I wouldn't touch All-Star or MVP with a 10-foot poll.

        Ability wise, I'd say I'm a 7/10 video baseball gamer...but All-Star was brutally unfair. Heelfan's pro sliders are ideal, and I know if I have a hard/easy time with something, a solution's just a click away!

          wildcatchild, I agree with you re MVP. I cannot get a hit to save my life and with Pareds sliders the cpu seems to get too many hits, which probably means I don't pitch that well. I could not deal with his -23 on pitcher meter, threw my timeing way off. So where are thes sliders you are talking about? Heelfans? I'd like to try thos on Pro. But still have this feeling it has to be each persons own, we have to develop our own, but I'd like to try his out.

            Finally some else is thinking what I'm thinking

            Each level has a boost in difficulty that effects the ratings.

            Rookie= +25

            Pro= +50

            All-star= +75

            Mvp= +100

            Ea always has default sliders set at 50%

            Nba Live (sliders range from 0-100) default is 50
            Ncaa and Madden (sliders range from 0-20) default is 10 or 50%
            Mvp (sliders range from -50 to +50) default is 0 or 50%

            also ea has the default level set at pro for Mvp and Madden, Ncaa football is set at varsity and Nba live is set at starter.

            from this you can also find out the boost that the human controlled team receives as well.
