    Boring baseball...

Since the Expos left I just couldn't find any other team to root for ( I hold grudges big time ) and just can't love the Blue Jays ( I'm from Montreal ) .
    Well I finally did ...
    the Seibu Lions !
that's right , I've been watching the Lions for the past month now and MLB should learn a thing or two about baseball .
The crowd is on there feet from start to finish, chanting, playing with thundersticks and making all kinds of noise .
Every pitcher has a different motion ( and I havn't seen any Greg Maddux type motion either ) , they steal bases , they bunt ( even in the first inning ) .
After the game , the player of the game is interviewd live, on the field and can be heard all over the stadium .
The uniforms good looking too ( unlike MLB with the greys vs the whites all the time ).
and I just love to watch an all-dirt diamond ...
as far as the caliber ...the only thing MLB players have better then Japan ( so far that I have seen ) is power hitting ...as far as defense, pitching, running MLB doesn't have the better end .
I,m glad to have found an alternative now that my Expos are gone ...
and MLB will never get another dime out of me .

i dunno, i just find that a little hard to believe, even japanese crossovers like ichiro and the matsuis regard MLB as the highest competition but i would be interested in watching a japanese game or two to see what its like
      NBA-Timberwolves
      NCAA-Buckeyes
      NFL-Bears
      NHL-Blackhawks
      MLB-White Sox
      EPL-Chelsea

I wish i get Japanese Baseball here. It seems really exciting. Their athletes are way more athletic then MLB players, they all can hit, play defense. I think the main thing is it is so different, the players give it 110% every single day and the fans are there to support them everyday. Japanese sports are crazy.

The Fukuoka Softbank Hawks ( the team that Tony Batista is playing with ) are broadcasting ( for free ) all of there home games.
            here : http://www.bcast.co.jp/webevents/yah..._main_100k.asx
I must say that there is a 13 hours difference in time , som most of there games
are at 5am ( Eastern time ) ...so I just tape'em ( put my webcam in front on my cpu screen ..and watch it when I get back from work .
I'm telling you , the show is way better over there ...
and it's kinda cool to see the manager aplause and show some emotions during a game .
Last week a saw a pitcher ( for the Marines I think ) who releases the ball at about 6 inches of the ground...
I've never seen the second hitter of a ball game in MLB make a sacrafice bunt..
In my opinion , the different between MLB and NPB is that MLB always play for the big inning , and since 80% of the pitches over here are fatsball ...it's wht happen very often.
In Japan they seems to throw more breaking balls , and they definatly do the little things ( steal, bunt, field ) better .
If you can , watch a game , and let me know what you think

Are you too young to remember the St. Louis Cardinals of the mid 1980s? In any case, this is a very interesting thread. You make me want to check this out.

                  very exiting baseball ...
well from what I've seen so far , japanese baseball looks more like this then the typical big inning mentality in MLB right now

Nah i've always enjoyed the Whitey Herzog days in St. Louis. I've also been quite interested in J League baseball. The only problem will be everything is gonna be writen in Japanese and the announcers will be talking Japanese. Oh well it'll be interesting to see how good the players are over there. I've heard Japanese baseball is very regimented.

Thanks for the heads up tho.

I've always been curious about baseball in Japan but I doubt I'd like that style of play better. To me a double into the gap with runners on base is a lot more exciting than bunting all the time, etc. Maybe it's because I'm used to watching the Red Sox who NEVER play small ball.
