    Bye Bonds

Wow. Big news here. ESPN is reporting that Bonds is now hooked up to 24-hour IV following a very serious post-operation infection. He will be immobilized for the time being with no timetable for even gettin off the IV. As much as I hope he doesnt grab the record, I hope he ends up alright. However, this is maybe the final blow in his chase for the record. he went from inevitable to alomst impossible it seems now.

Just read this on ESPN. Interesting read and rather alarming.

How long before the conspiracy theorists begin?

Hmm well if this is truly legit I hope he gets better soon. I may hate the fact that he's cheated to get as far as he has but to have his career possibly end due to something like this is equally as bad.

This is too bad. I was looking forward to seeing him break the record.

Can't say I feel sorry for him. He should just retire and not risk any further injury to his body, he does have a family to consider.

Yeah; what I heard late last nighty was that Bonds had been on a 24-hour IV for about 2 weeks and had just come off it but was still taking oral antibiotics.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. Here's hoping he never comes back.

Note that the above comments assume that anything coming out of the Bonds camp these days is true, which is no safe assumption. More than likely, this is all just window dressing to explain away Barry's appearance when he returns to the game after quitting the juice and shedding about 40 lbs.

Ok, I changed my mind....I hope he does come back and proceeds to hit something like 10 HRs over an entire season, thus forever tarnishing his legacy and removing all doubt from even the most optimistic fans' minds that he's a cheater and a loser.

Yeah...That is true. The San Francisco Chronicle reported it 2 weeks ago and just yesturday ESPN had it as their TOP STORY. Must have been a slow news day.

Bonds is doing good and recovering...so this is to all you Bonds haters...He'll be back and going to tear all the pitchers apart (muahahah)

                              Well, here was his response:

Sunday afternoon the doctor stopped by to give me the test results in regard to the fluid that was drained from my knee. I was told that I had a bacterial infection in my knee and I needed to have surgery immediately. I flew back to San Francisco Sunday night so I could make it to my appointment early Monday morning. The surgery went well. Dr. Ting cleaned out the infected area and they are now treating me with antibiotics. I'm still on antibiotics and a lot of my recovery requires rest, staying off my knee, and a few range of motion exercises, therefore allowing me to only be at the ballpark for short periods of time. The road to recuperation is steady but I am taking it slow under the direction of Dr. Ting and the team's medical staff.

My original plans were to wait a week before reporting on my condition so I would have a better idea on how my leg was responding. Due to informational leaks (I know who it is), the media has been contacting my PR firm asking about my status. So, before any hearsay or false information is reported, I wanted you to hear about my condition directly from me.

I know you have many questions regarding me playing baseball but right now I have to spend the time focusing on getting healthy. I've been through ups and downs before and I will be back.

As soon as I know more information, I will update you.
