<<<Cincinnati Reds Rumor Mill>>>Dave Miley is...

this from a reliable source, gettin' the axe today. now i haven't heard anything of this around the Queen City area...so don't be surprised if this is JUST a rumor, but Miley DID NOT sign 5 of the worst sorry a$$ed pitchers in the majors...grant it i HAVE questioned some of Miley's strategies this year, but if anything O'brien's a$$ should be the sling along w/ J Allen imo...oh yeah you can throw in: (i hijacked this)
    -O'Brien Firing
    -John Allen Firing
    -Activation of a healthy WMP
-Announcement of Paul Wilson to the bullpen
-Moving Dunn to #2 hole, Casey down to #5 hole
-Acquisition of a Catcher, LaRue sent to Louisville for a re-conditioning assignment
-Announcement of Freel as every day second baseman
-Announcement of Graves moved to middle relief - no more closing for Graves
    -Firing of Gullett

    thoughts Reds fans??

While i'm no great cincy fan I think that if this is true then Miley is taking the fall for a bad team that has no hope of getting better as long as their current GM is still there.

Miley is actually a pretty darn good manager from what i've heard but he's got probably one of the worst pitching staffs in recent memory. No manager can do better then Miley in this situation.

I've been a proponent of Keeping Miley and Firing Gullet. Loved Gully as a pitcher, but not as a pitching coach.

              Here's my take on everything:

              - I think Miley is a great teacher but he doesn't belong in the majors managing a bunch of egos, not that the Reds have many but still. He's a puppet manager for...
              - ...Dan O'Brien and John Allen. Both of these turds should be let go. Apparently for some time there they were telling Miley to play Aurilia and his .200 BA over Lopez and his .300+ BA at SS. Miley did what they asked. O'Brien never should have signed Milton. I thought it was a bad signing when they first did it. He's a bad pitcher for Great American BP. I would have ponied up the extra $$ to go after Matt Clement.
              - I've said it many times before, and I'll say it again, the Reds front office has turned into the pre-Marvin Lewis Bengals. Too much meddling (Allen) and keeping people in the family (Gullet) despite failure after failure.

If I won the lottery tomorrow and purchased the Reds, here's the first few acts:
              - Fire Allen and O'Brien. They are worthless.
              - Get a filler GM until Riccardi gets fired by the Jays. If that doesn't happen, I'd get someone that follows the Moneyball philosophy, not necessarily completely but understands how it all works. If that fails, I'll get my two friends that are fantasy baseball junkies like me that usually win every year because they understand how things work to have success and we'd be the tri-headed Hydra-GM. We'd do a much better job than O'Brien. I guarantee that.
              - I'd send Miley back to the minors and find a no-nonsense guy like Ozzie Guillen.
              - Trade Danny Graves

I don't think Ricciardi will get fired. He's been given a new leash with Ted Rogers opening up his pocketbook. Now if we don't see some success in the next 2 yrs then yeah he'll be gone.

As for the Reds I think they should do a housecleaning from top to bottom. It's pretty much a big SNAFU there.

The Reds designated D'Angelo Jimenez for assignment so for everyone waiting for Ryan Freel to become the regular Second Baseman...you just got your wish.

Except the powers-that-be (O'Brien and Allen) ordered Miley to start William Bergolla over Freel, which makes absolutely no sense. Boy do I dislike those two.

I take this back...sorta. Freel had a neck injury last night. I was told that O'B and Allen ordered Miley to start Bergolla. If that happens while Freel is healthy, then I'll complain more. I still don't like those two.
