Hey baseball fans everywhere, some baseball thoughts..

I just wanted to get something off my chest. I don't like how baseball has been played down this year because of the problems of the owners and the players, contraction, and the 2 teams in the worlkd series.

It really ticks me off how no one is turning in to the playoffs and worldseries, because so far it has been great. Just because some high pofile teams didn't make it, no one is hyping it up. What a bunch of bunk. I just finish watching game 6 and what a game for the Angels to come back and take it to 7. This is what baseball is about. Also for the record I am not a fan of either team ( I like the bluejays and the cards) but that is not stopping me from watching this great series. Both of these teams fought hard to get there and their proformance this season and this series proves they belong in the big game.
Granted I use to follow baseball until the 94 lockout, that sucked for the fans. I gradually got back into it little by little. Last year though is when I really got back into the swing of things. After the terrorists attack last year on DC, New York ,and Penn. everyone in the country got unified and I thought sports help the people in this country feel like one big team. Nothing prove this more than last year's series betwen NY and AZ. That was a classsic series just like this one.

The MLB needs to look at this to see how this appeals to the fans. Because the people of this country work hard just like the 2 teams in this series. To me MLB stop trying to please these big corporations and remember that this enjoyed by the fans that go out and make a living during the week, who like to see the same effor put out on the field. They enjoy seeing a good game after a long hard day. Sorry that is just me rambliing but that is the way I feel.

This is great for baseball fans everywhere, I mean look , 2 great 7 game Worldseries back to back years. Cheers to you all! Here is to a great 7th game.

Excellent post. I completely agree. I am a diehard Red Sox fan, but this postseason has been amazing. Best postseason i've seen in ages. Let alone the World Series, which has been nothing short of amazing. Just the fact that the Yankees aren't in it, people are tuning out, because there not used to the Giants and Angels. I for one am enjoying this series more than last years World Series.

Although the diehard fans are watching, the run of the mill fans are not. Why? Mostly becasue the games are not finishing until so late. The games drag along at a snail pace. It does not matter to me as I will watch regardless, however if they want to keep attracting newer, younger fans, the games need to be played and finshed before freaking midnight. They just can't expect fans to stay up during week nights and watch a game until midnight when they have to get up early in the morning to work.

You are right their Skyboxer. They do need to remember their young fanbase also, so they can keep them enjoying the game when they get older. I think a good mixture of day games with the night games would get more people watching the series. Not only the kids but the adults would also be turning in more. Good point.

Took the words out of my mouth, Skyboxer. The big problem IMHO is that both teams are West Coast teams, and because of that, the games don't start until late.

The games have been starting at around 7 here in Minnesota. That's not too late. The problem is that the games are taking 4 hours to complete. 3 hours of baseball is hard enough, but 4? That's too much.

Hey man, are you sure it isn't spelled Kenji Mutoh?

Great game so far! Santiago in with a sacrifice fly, 1to 0 going into the bottom of the 2nd.
No actually it should be Keiji Mutoh. He is currently wrestling for all-japan. He was a major champion in New Japan singles and tag, plus his alter ego the Great Muta was a nwa champion at one time. Even though it is not baseball, I figured I would point that out because I have been enjoy watching his performances in the rring since I first saw him on TV in 1988.

Yeah, I knew it was Kenji or Keiji, definitely not Keji. Mutoh has always been one of my favorite wrestlers. His matches with Sting were great.

Speed up the games and that will help with the average fan, My girlfriend actually showed some interest in the World Series this year, but the pace would make it too easy for her to flip channels and lose interest in the WS>

AGREED MUTOH is stellar to say the least.....even in his latest incarnation.........

he can out work most wrestlers state side with knees that shouldnt even allow him to stand up anymore

i remember his last run in the late days of wcw.....when he actually came to the promotion to work a lighter schuedule while he saw some doctors in atlanta, and texas

his matches with vampiro, sting, etc etc.......were unbelievable considering what bad shape he was suppose to be in

i followed him ever since he basically started out in florida championship wrestling......as a ninja...then on to his great muta persona.....the matches gary hart as his manager...........the thunderdome match with sting ,funk, and flair.....etc etc.....and his later split personalities in japan

i have some fantastic tapes of him...from florida days and also japan matches

his match vs jushin thunder liger (where liger changed personas mid match into a high breed of his original charater) is one of my all time favorites

american wrestling has nothing on this stuff....especially now that vince has squeezed the creative life line out of all of his "sports entertainers"

                      and now back to baseball...............
