    Cub Fans Unite Here!

OK, they are two game below .500. To be honest, I have not seen one thing this year that give me hope of this squad putting together a run and finishing over .500. Just when they win one or two in a row, they drop just as many. 3 games is the longest win-streak, and I think we can all forget that week where they didn't win a single game. The wild-card will not come out of the NL Central this year, so the Cubs need to catch the Cards in a big way. The Cubs pen is the worst I have seen in a long time, and they desperately need a closer to step up. Can JoBo return to the 2003 closer we all knew? Is Dempster the answer? These are all questions a division winner cannot afford to ask. There are bright spots though, Derrick Lee is tearing it up, and Prior seems to be dominate once again. The thing that kills me is the Cubs making errors, stranding runners, and poor baserunning.
This leads me to the so-called general of the guys. Dusty Baker. Can he once go Bobby Knight on someone? Is he indorsing Crazy Glue? Every time there is a key blown call or some Cub screws up, he is stuck to the bench. Think Bobby Cox or Tony LaRussa would put up with pro player preforming like amatures? Heck no. The Cubs may need to follow suit of the 2003 Marlins, and the 2004 Astros and can their manager to get a new attitude. This team has too much talent to settle for anything less than the playoffs.

The Cubs need someone like Bobby Valentine...even with Bobby V. though, the Cubs have a slow lumbering team that isnt conducive to good defense and small ball.

BTW, what are we uniting on...that the Cubs stink this year...thats not news. In any case, Ill pile on at every opportunity because this season was a writeoff from the beginning. But at least theyll have the renovations they wanted next year which is the presumed justification for spending more on the team.

The past two seasons have been so terrible to be a Cubs fan. I'm 23 and I refuse to goto any cubs games. I used to goto 10-15 games a year during the 90's now you can't pay me to go. I can't even watch games on TV since they got rid of stony and the radio broadcast is white sox bad. I want my teams broadcast to be honest and if that means be critical then so be it. I hope Dusty's "dude" act gets out of town after this season. I still think Hendry is one of the best GM's in Baseball. But, going into this season I knew it was gonna be hard to even break 500.. Next year we should be back thanks to sammy's money freeing up. I would love top see Joe Giradi as the next manager and a completely new outfield with people who can actually get on base. Don't forget we get money back from our china doll shortstop Nomar too. While the present is gloomy the future is bright.

i think we are perhaps one good mid-season signing away from pulling out of this crap, and it should come soon.
whether in the form of a reliever (Graves?), another insurance starter, another (read more consistent) bat, WITH THE ADDITION of the removal of Dusty Baker, this team could be helped by a shakeup.
If it wasn't for the ridiculously overwhleming spotlight on Bonds in SF, we might have seen this Dusty crap coming....

I would be willing to deal Patterson and/or Burnitz and/or anyone else for something more consistent...
Aubrey Huff comes to mind. I think I would rather give Ben Grieve another chance than watch Dubois or Burnitz, though neither is doing absolutley horrendously, I'd like to see if Grieve could provide a more consistent and PATIENT approach at the plate that might rub off on the other hackers.
Getting rid of Sammy did not solve any problems, as the biggest problem with Sammy was horrible plate discipline, which the CUbs still possess in abundance.
