    East Coast/West Coast

should the MLB re-do the divisions and make it East and West like the NBA, or no?

is there more excitement about the game on the east coast? i forget where i heard this, but someone said it was more intense playing on the east. anyone agree or disagree

No way. There's nothing wrong with it now.

No, they should not realign into East and West divisions.

As for your other question, i think there is a lot of exitement from the east because of the fans and the rivalries. The Red Sox and the Yankees is THE rivalry in Baseball, but also when the Orioles, Red Sox and Yankees play eachother it's a great high energy environment. A lot of the intensity comes from the media, the media on the east coast is brutal at times because they expect their teams to win every game with no excuses for losing, where the media in parts of the midwest and the west coast is fairly laid back. I'm not saying that they expect less from their teams, but it comes across that way sometimes.

If you're ever on the east coast check out a game and judge for yourself.

It doesn't help that parking around Fenway now is like $45. Now I just take the T in everytime I go to Boston for a sporting event.

You really have to be a fool to drive into Boston these days for a Sox game.

I don't like the idea of making MLB an East/West kind of thing. You're just messing with tradition if you do that. Part of the greatness that is MLB today is National League vs. American League. Pitchers hit in the NL, DH in the AL. More small ball in NL, more power hitting in the AL. Just something I've grown comfortable with about baseball. I don't ever see this happening.

You still get your fair share of East vs. East, West vs. West match ups anyway. Yankees/Sox, Angels/A's, Dodgers/Giants, etc. It's fine the way it is.

I wouldn't mind them going back to East-West divisions within each league and let the champions and runner-up from each division make the playoffs, but the current setup is OK. The only thing really bad thing now is if there are 3 tough teams in one of the divisions it puts you at a disadvantage for the wild card. You might have a good team, but your record may suffer because you played stiffer competition in your division.

Isn't that why we have the American League and National League? No, it isn't split up by location, but the two styles differ greatly.

I did love the Braves/Dodgers rivalry.
