Why Dusty Baker is an Idiot

Tom Goodwin for Reggie Sanders???!!!

Did anyone besides me find this absolutely idiotic? With men on 2nd & 3rd with 2 outs in the sixth, he pinch hits Goodwin in place of Reggie Sanders. Sanders struggled in the series, but (1) he homered in Game 1, (2) he has WS experience, and (3) he's always been a respectable hitter with legitimate homerun power. On the other hand, Tom Goodwin is nothing but a glorified pinch runner and defensive replacement who went hitless this postseason. There was no doubt in my mind that he would strike out, and he did just that. This possibly cost the Giants 2 runs, and the World Series.

Sanders isn't a good high fastball hitter....he likes them low. Plus, even if Sanders was in there he would have struck out IMO. The momentum was just too BIG.

I wanted the Giants to win sooooo badly, but my hat goes off to the Angels.

HELL OF A SERIES.....it's too bad nobody's watching.

I was thinking the same thing. Sanders anytime over goodwin. Also Shinjo in the 9th was weak also, that was a waste when he swung at that 3rd strike 2 feet high.

Try looking at a 98mph fastball. I think you have like 0.005sec to think about either swinging at it or not. TP was throwing some serious heat!

No one is arguing that it's not hard to hit a 98mph fastball. But the decision to put Shinjo up there was very stupid. Your basically putting your hopes on a ROOKIE who rarely is even on the field during clutch situations. He should have put Shawn Dunston up instead of Shinjo, at least Dunston homered in game6 and gives you a better shot at winning.

Dusty also put in goodwin in game 6 to face Percival when he should have left Shaun Dunston in. Even if it was righty vs. righty, Dunston had hit a homer earlier and goodwin sucks.

what still baffles me is in game 6 up 5-0 ortiz has a 3 hitter going 2 outs runners on 1st and 2nd,7 inning,and he takes him out yea h hje may be getting tired but NO RUNS were given up yet,so he brings in roderiguez,and he gets lit up by speizo......... sometimes he just over manages,i am a giants fan ,but if the cubs want:him.......SEEE.............YAAA......

I agree, I think he is the reason the Giants lose. They could have won that game when they were leading 5-0. The pitcher was doing well, he could have left him in there a bit longer. Instead he puts in his relievers and ended up losing the game.
