    Good thread.

Anyone besides me find it interesting that 2 of the top 5 picks are going to team with winning records and that the fourth overall pick is going to a team in first place? I tell you, I think the D'Backs got lucky too. They basically had one terrible year and get to draft Upton.

I pray that the Jays don't select Romero althought that's who I think JP is going to draft. I would like to see them select Clement or Maybin instead.

I'm personally dying for the Nats to take Ryan Zimmerman (3B - UVA). He seems to be the perfect fit, a 21 year old college third baseman who is expected to be ready in two years - just when Castilla's contract runs up

Cubs got a 3rd round for Clement. Not sure about Alou. I'm guessing they didn't offer him arbitration.

Re: Official 2005 MLB Draft Thread

Today's a big step in the continual overhaul of the Red Sox minor league system. They have 5 picks ranging from # 23 to # 57. Three of those are sandwiched between rounds 1 and 2 thanks to compensation picks. And seeing how quickly Pedroia is coming along and how good Hanley projects to be, I think Boston will make a considerable jump in the Baseball America standings with the talent they add today...even more of a jump as they develop. I'm predicting 5 college studs and a highschool arm. I've been waiting for today since we lost all these guys in the offseason...do what you do Theo.

GRR why didnt the Sox draft Cesar Carrilo, home grown, even went to my high school! Just add another guy to the list of greats from my school, Donovan McNabb, Antoine Walker, Chris Cheilos, and some of the scrubs in the pro leagues, but now we can add Cesar Carrillo to that great list!

Casey Stern (my favorite from the original Dream Job btw) straight up rocks on MLB.com. Great show going on for those of you not watching.

I'm looking for some more analysis on the BoSox and Braves picks.
