    MLB instant Replay?

I am sure I am not the only one who thinks this is a ******** idea.

On Cold Pizza today they were talking about why baseball needs to use an instant replay rule.

That takes away from the game. Part of baseball is the human element. This is just like the fricken strikezone umpre thing they tried to bring in 2 years ago...it did no good, and no one liked it.

    What does everyone else think?

I think instant replay is completely unnecessary now that Umpires get together and discuss questionable plays. If they did implement it, when would it be used? I think I'd stop watching Baseball if they went to the replay every time there was a close play on the basepaths.

Instant Reply should be used only in certain situations. I'm thinking it should only be used on HR's, to see if balls are foul or fair once they're in play, and home plate situations.

I'm not for instant replay but, he only way I can see instant replay being good is if they only use it on HR calls. If they are using it for strikes/balls or safe/out is would really hurt the game,

I think replay on HR's is a very good idea. Homeruns are one of the biggest factors that decide between a win and a loss because a run and possibly more relies on that one play.

Winning a baseball game should be about personal ability... not the ability of the umpire to make a correct call. I'd rather have the deserving team win the game and take 2 min to watch a replay then have a game blown over a bad call and the undeserving team wins.

I somewhat agree, but how many times in recent memory have they gotten the calls wrong? I can't think of too many major occurances, but can think a few that the umps have changed and gotten right, such as Bellhorn's HR in last years ALCS.

I'd only like to see in on HRs and game-winning plays.

Would you want instant replay involved anywhere near this moment:

Seriously tho I'd hate to see Instant Replay being used in baseball. The last few years umpires have done a great job at calling games. If this was 10 yrs ago i'd probably give instant replay a shot but now umps actually hold conferences with each other on the more questionable plays. More often then not they get the call right.

I agree completely... but its better to have this system in place beforew e need it then after.

I can only think of one game this year... I think it was with the Reds where a ball was ruled a HR because it landed in the garden beyond the fence and bounced back when in actuality it hit the top of the wall. I believe that those runs changed the winner of the gane... but I don't remember the specifics. I'm almost sure Griffey it it though. Can anyone clairfy on this?

There was another controversial call this year with the Braves and Nats when a Braves player hit what looked to be a HR in the left field corner. The Umps ruled it a foul ball.

If the umpires got together and discussed the play they would've gotten that one right. Umpire conferences eliminate the need for instant replay IMO. There are so few plays that instant replay would help that it isn't worth the implementing it.

It's really not necessary, and if we did put it in, where would it stop. Next thing you know, every close pitch would go to the replay to see if It's a ball or a strike. For football, sure, but in baseball there's more of a human element.

Agreed. I would hate to see the day when balls and strikes are going to instant replay. The only acceptable time to use it would be for homerun calls, because frankly, umpires are making the call from 350 ft away, which really isn't the best position to make the call. However baseball umpires are probably the best officials in all of sports, and their success rate is so incredible that I don't feel like it is totally necessary.
