Give The Royals Some Dap Thread

I felt like taking a word right out of Michael Wilbon's dictionary. :y4:

Anyways, I think its about time to give Buddy Bell some major credit for what he's been able to do in just a few short weeks. When he took over, he was 13-37, on pace for 110 wins and Lima seemed to be on pace to be the first pitcher to have 20 starts without a win. Through May 30th, the team only had 5 saves between MacDougal, Wood and Burgos. In the first two months, this team had been swept 6 different times.

Since Buddy took over, the Royals are 11-4, with 3 game sweeps over the Yankees and Dodgers. Out of the five series they've played, they are 4-1. MacDougal has notched 6 saves in the past 2 weeks. Even though they are still the 3rd worst team in baseball, its good to see a team like this rally around one guy (Bell) and actually play like they give a damn.

Even in their last loss, which was a 12-11 loss to the Diamondbacks, they were down 11-3 going into the 8th inning and normally they would've just died because well....they are the Royals. Instead, the new and improved Royals which seem to finally be playing with heart, were able to score 6 in the 8th and 2 more in the 9th to tie the game and send it to extra innings. Although they did lose, they showed something that no Royals team had seen in quite a while.

I think its time people join me now, and give these Royals and especially Buddy Bell some major dap.

Hmm.... 110 wins? Maybe the should've stuck with Pena if that was the pace they were on?

Anyways.. yeah... they seem to be playing much better. Not everyone realizes that you need a team of superstars to win a bunch of games. A team of young guys with speed and passion to win can string together a bunch of wins just by doing the little things each game...which Buddy Bell seems to be making sure they do.

I hope they keep playing well and make a run at the division or wild-card spot.

Sorry I don't give out daps I give props

The Royals have been playing very well but this may just be the "new manager" effect where a team plays really well for a new manager and then fizzles out. If they continue to play this well the rest of the way then the Royals may have something to look forward to in '06.

Bahh. I'll give them some credit when they stop beating up on cream puffs like the Yankees.

I think regardless they have something to look forward to in '06. They have a good young team IMO. Joe Buck, Mark Teahan, Angel Berroa, Zack Greinke can all be above average baseball players. As long as they keep these players intact and not go on a fire sale they can be good down the stretch. I see them getting good prospects when they trade Mike Sweeny so they will even have a bigger future then.

Royals ownership has told GM Allard Baird that he does not have to trade Mike Sweeney for the sake of trading him, which is good news for the Royals. If a good deal comes along and a team dangles two or three good prospects, then maybe the Royals will trade Sweeney but they can afford to keep his salary so they will not be trading him to cut payroll.

As Tha Dynasty mentioned there are some really good young players on this team (and he didn't even mention the best one-David DeJesus!), Buddy Bell was brought in to teach these guys how to play in the big leagues, something Tony Pena was apparently not very good at. If they can get Greinke straightend out and Runelvys Hernandez continues to improve the Royals should be a much better team in 2006.
